Re: James P Clyde Family NYS
I am a descendant of John Clyde b. 1828/30 spouse - Mary in Jefferson County, NY. He named his first born son after William. The census of 1860 shows him born in Canada but any other ones of him all the ones for his kids are on show him born in NY. Could you correspond with me please? Thanks.

Re: James P Clyde Family NYS
Hello: I've been researching the James P. Clyde family, wondering if he had a son named Harrison W. Clyde; because Harrison's 1880 Census records show his father and maybe his mother, being born in Vermont. I find only one other possibility and that is for George Washington Clyde, also born in VT. Because James P. was first married to Philena Godfrey, and there is info. that their first son was John H. Clyde, born abt. 1830 in NY, it would be a good fit that Harrison W. , born in 1832 in NY, could be a son of James P. and brother to John H. Clyde. I have info. that shows that Harrison's wife was Mary Elizabeth Biss; a son, Elmer, born 1876 in WI, located to Washington state until his death. I'm trying to put together a true genealogy lineage of this family, so any help you could give would be appreciated! Thanks so much! God bless!

Re: James P Clyde Family NYS
In 1850, in the Town of Ridgeway, County of Elk, in PA, there's a 25 year old George W. CLYDE, 19 year old Harrison W. Clyde, both born in NY working as laborers living in a household with an Ann C. Clyde, 17 born in PA and 45 year old Martha H.? Worden born in VT. Could be Geo. W. and Harrison were brothers and went to work farming Martha Worden's land? Maybe she's an aunt - their father's sister who became a widow? Just thoughts on why they were there. In 1870, the Harrison you speak of, shows up with wife Mary in WI - Town of Weston, Dunn County. He is shown as 39 the day that census was done, July 22, 1870 and Mary is 22(funny Mary is 34 ten years later - it's probably only a year off because of whenever her birthday was). It shows 4 kids: 3 boys and a girl. Wm 7, Henry 5, Mary 2, and Berty 3 months. All of the kids were born in WI. Just so you know, there's another Harrison CLYDE who was also married to a Mary. He was born in PA about 1846 and is probably a son to neighbor, William and Nancy CLYDE ages 55 and 50 respectively and both born in NY. They were on the 1870 census in the Town of Millstone, County of Elk, PA. With THIS Harrison and Mary is a 12 year old Sarah POTTS. His Mary is Mary A. and they have sons by 1880 named, Samuel 5, Burdett 4, and Harry 3. They're still in PA next to Wm. One more - in the 1850 census for the Town of Warsaw, County of Jefferson, PA, there is a Harrison CLYDE 19, born in NY living in William CLYDE aged 59 born in NY household. There is also Priscilla 61, assumed to be Wm's wife. Two more living in the household are Alelia RIAN 13, and Mary A. BARRETT aged 21. Everyone in the house is listed as born in NY. There's a marriage record for Harrison W. CLYDE for Nov 6, 1861 in Dunn County, WI. Probably your guy. Hope some of this helps. I know you're looking to go back farther than 1850 though.

Re: James P Clyde Family NYS
I hope you are still looking for info on the James Clyde family. My Great grandfather, Hugh Clyde and James Clyde are related. Does the name Mary C. Gould mean anything to do? There was a court dispute on a will between the 2 children of James Clyde of Alexandria Bay and the relatives of Hugh Clyde from Elk County, PA. I have all the info, but haven't been researching for years and would need to dig though the piles of papers..

Re: James P Clyde Family NYS
I have 2 Hugh Clydes----1 born 1758, son of Samuel (1785-1915) & Margaret b 1758. I think you are referring to the other Hugh, Hugh R (1781-1863), born in NH and died in Little Cooley, Crawford, PA. His wife was Prudence Worden born ABT 1803. Hugh R's parents were William M Clyde (1756 born in NH-1815 in NY). & Mary (1762 born in Ireland & died 1844 in Nauvoo, Hancock, IL. Hugh R was an older brother to George Washington Clyde (1798-1844) George W is my 2nd Great Grandfather. I have lots of information about the Clydes from my Immigrant Ancestor, Daniel Clyde (1863-1753) to my mother. I would like to know more about my ancestors. Some of my info is sketchy. I would love to have your info on a dispute of a will between James of Alexandria and the relatives of Hugh Clyde. Would like to compare notes about all of our Clyde ancestors. I have several Wordens in my database. I do not have much info on Prudence. Do you know who her parents, siblings, etc are? Prudence was Hugh R's 2nd wife. His 1st wife was Sarah Bell.

Re: James P Clyde Family NYS
I think Elmer Clyde may have been the brother of my grandfather, Edward M. Clyde. He married Siegfriede Sonne Clyde (my grandmother). They lived in Home, WA on the Puget Sound.
