Surnames: Clyatt, Langley
I am looking for information regarding the parents and other ancestors of my great-great-great-great-grandfather, Thomas Clyatt, born 1814 (most likely in Georgia). He married Anne Frances Langley (1809-1880) on December 15, 1831, in Troup County, Georgia. Thomas appears on the 1840 US Census for Troup County as a head of household, and he and his wife appear in Troup County for the census years 1850, 1860 and 1870, but I cannot find them after that date. There are no other Clyatts or Langleys listed in the 1830 and 1840 census in Troup County, so Thomas evidently moved there from somewhere else prior to 1831. I do not know where Anne Frances Langley lived before she married Thomas, nor do I know how or exactly when either of them died.

My line is as follows:
Thomas Clyatt and Anne Frances Langley had a son,
John Thomas Clyatt (1841-1921) who married Rebecca Ann Justice (1838-1910), and they had a son,
Thomas Nathaniel Clyatt (1875-1971) who married Edith Lee Smith (1877-1912), and they had a son,
Thomas Edward Clyatt (1904-1976) who married Mary Sue Gibson (1908-1963), and they had a son,
Eugene Gibson Clyatt (1937-2001) who was my father.

John Thomas Clyatt lived in Troup and Meriwether Counties for most of his life, and Thomas Nathaniel Clyatt and Thomas Edward Clyatt both lived in the Atlanta area for most of their lives.

Any help anyone can provide regarding Thomas Clyatt and Anne Frances Langley would be greatly appreciated! All of the family records available to me stop with them, and I am stuck.

Thank you,
Susan Clyatt Lybeck

Susan; My family remembers Clyatt's Pharmacy very well. I have pretty much all of your family in my files. But, the knowledge base has not been expanded since my previous posts on this board. Thomas and Frances had 5 kids: Catherine, 1833; Eliza A, 1835 m Leroy Wood; James, 1837; John Thomas, 23 Dec 1841 - 15 Jan 1921 m Rebecca A Justice; Rebecca E, 1848 m Matthew S Wood. In addition to the census records you list in 1880 Frances is listed with John T as a widow; so Thomas died bet 1870-1880. Frances died 2 Feb 1900. Her obit is here: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/meriwether/newspapers/1902....
I can't prove it yet but I believe that Thomas is the younger brother of Jonathan Clyatt of Jasper/Harris Co, GA. Jonathan married Nancy Milam Nov 1825 in Jasper Co. On the 1830 census in Harris Co Jonathan is listed with Nancy and another male 15-20. Will entertain any questions.

Thank you! I had found the same census and obituary information since I started the thread, but the possible link to Jonathan is new to me. I have emailed the Troup County Historical Society in the hopes that they may have additional information. If I learn anything new, I will post it here.

And the fact that you remembered my Granddaddy's drug stores made me smile! :)

Thanks again,
Susan
