Sophia Clontz was the daughter of Michael George Clontz(1760-1838) and Chloe Misenheimer Klein (1766-1847). She was born on Aug. 30, 1797 in Mecklenburg County, NC and died May 31 1880.

I am having trouble distinguishing between the children Celia Beach and Ann Stokes had with Michael Clontz.

Any help would be appreciated! :) Thanks!

I have done some research on James Harvey Claunts/Clonts, but am not a direct relative. I ordered his complete Pension file. It contains a lot of family information. If you are interested in this file, I am willing to send it to you. It has info about wives and children and his service.. I am not researching any more on this family, since it is only connected by marriage. You may email me at marilynkhowe@comcast.net if you are interested. I see it has been several years since your post, but you may still be interested.

The administrator of our Glantz Y-DNA project, famlytreedna.com, again offers sale prices for Father's Day. This project is open to all males named Glantz/Glontz/Glans/Clontz/Klontz, etc., any variation of this surname, and there are many. If you are not a male with this surname, perhaps you would be willing to sponsor a test for a father, brother, uncle, or cousin. Or even an unknown cousin from your specific line. These tests can provide many surprising discoveries and are done in the privacy of your home by a simply swab of the cheek.

Here are the details:
Y-DNA37 for $119 (Regular price would be $149)
Y-DNA67 for $199 (Regular price would be $239)
Y-DNA37+mtDNA for $159 (Combined test to trace male surname and female line would cost $238)

The promotion will start June 5 and will end June 25. Kits need to be paid for by June 30, 2010.

Nedra Brill, ndbrill@comcast.net
Glantz Family DNA project coordinator

We have started a Glantz DNA project at familytreedna.com to see if the various families are related and welcome/encourage any male named Glantz, Glontz, Clontz, Klontz, Clons, Glans, etc., etc. to join.

My ancestors were the Klontz family of Ohio, although one brother went to Texas and used the Clontz spelling.

Let me know if you have questions.

Sorry, but I have no records of an Alfred. I will keep you in mind if I do. The one thing I can tell you is if his grandfather fought in the Rev. War, the grandfather had to either be George or Jeremiah. George had 10 children (7 boys) and Jeremiah had 6 (4 boys). I know his father was not Samuel Asbury (son of George), so that leaves 9 possibilties. Most of my records are of George's line, (usually spelled with an"s") but have some records stored away of Jeremiah's (usually spelled with a "z." Will let you know if I find anything.

Looking for information on the parents and ancestors of Jeremiah (Jerry) B. Claunch, living in Jamestown, Guilford Co, NC between 1840-1870, and possibly showing up in Greene, TN in 1880 (living near his son, Harper).

He appears to have been born around 1816, was married first to Louisa (born in Franklin, NC), then Sarah Perry and possibly Mary E. in TN. One census says that he was born in Davie Co., NC., with his parents born in VA.

His son, John Sherman Clonch, of North Wilkesboro NC, was my GGgrandfather.

Could have been spelled Clontz in earlier years....

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Clontz Family in Burke and Caldwell County, North Carolina

Would like to hear from anyone with information on Michael Clontz b. abt 1799 and Celia Beach b. abt 1812. They lived in Burke and Caldwell Counties. This Michael Clontz is sometimes confused with Anne Stokes and their children. But as far as I know they are two different families. Thanks,
Susan

Susan, I have some info on this line but have lost the paper which verifies. I show children as; John Mortimer (Mort) b.1839, Mira, b.1842, William Wesler (Nester) b.08 Sep 1844, Amanda E. (Mandy) b. 1847, Sarah Ann b. 09 Aug 1849, and Michael Asbury b.19 Mar 1852. This might give you some leads to go on although I CANNOT verifiy this info. John Mortimer Clontz was a civil war soldier. I think he died 08 Nov 1863 from wounds suffered in the battle at Gettysburg.

I have pictures of this line but have not been able to verify the parents of Alfred. He had told his children that his grandfather had been in the Rev. war. Alfred was born in NC but had his children in McMinn Co., TN. He is listed in the 1850 McMinn county census as Alfred Kloze with his wife and children. Please help find his parents.
Dorothy,

Thank you for your response. I am a descendant of the same Jeremiah Clontz of Mecklenburg Co. NC through Jacob Clontz who moved to Paulding Co., GA. I have pictures of his and Elizabeth Shelby Clontz burial site at Bethel Methodist
and a written history of the church. My grandparents and g grandparents and a whole host of relatives are all buried there. I have a distant relative or two from the Georgia Clontz (s )that I was communicating with but I've been too busy for the past year to do much genealogy research. I have communicated with Cindy Clonts Fisher and Darlene DeZullo from the Georgia Clontz(s) and Jean Guillen from Union Co., NC, but it has been about a year. Do you know who is the
keeper of the Jacob Clontz(s) history? I am interested in finding out more about Jeremiah Wesley Clonts(Jacob's son) since his son John Quillian Clonts was my g grandfather. I know he died during Civil War in Jonesboro, GA, but I believe he was buried at Nebo Methodist in Hiram, Paulding Co., GA.,
but the grave is not marked(Cindy Fisher believes this to be true, also). I will be back in NC this fall and am hoping to make it to Union Co. to see where the first Jeremiah is buried.

Thanks again,

Pam ( pamanddon@prodigy.net )
