Hello John, We've met before on the St. Mary's MD rootsweb maillist. Since then I haven't found much more on the CLOCKER family. Daniel was transported as a servant of Lord Cornwallis to Maryland in 1636 and got his freedom in 1649. "Our" Daniel could be the Daniel CLOCKER christened May 30, 1619 in Crosthwaite, Cumberland, England son of Hans and Bridget CLOCKER. I have heard that the CLOCKER name of England was originally spelled GLOCKER and from Germany. One surname research site says this of the CLOCKER name: "The history of this ancient Silesia family traces its ancestry as a family of Slavonic origin before the year 1100." One researcher said the CLOCKERs emigrated from Germany to dig in the mines of England in the 1400s. That's all I know for now. You can contact me at my email address:
