Margaret Iona Neufeld
Margaret Neufeld passed away peacefully at her home, October 23, 2005 with her family by her side.

Margaret, affectionately known as "Map" was born in Roseburg Oregon to Warren and Myrtle (Hatfield) Cloake on January 27,1916. She attended schools in Roseburg and graduated from Roseburg High School in 1935. Margaret then moved to the Los Angeles area to attend the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, graduating in 1939. While there she met her future husband, Nick Neufeld. They were mamed on September 10, 1939 in Reedley, California. Later, they moved to Kansas where Nick received training at a seminary school to become a Baptist minister. While living in Kansas, Margaret worked at the Defense Plant during WW II from 1942 until 1943. Later, Margaret and Nick moved to San Francisco, where Nick served as a Chaplain with the U.S. Army. Upon Nick's completion of military duty, he accepted many positions at several Baptist churches throughout Oregon and California.

Margaret was very active in serving her church and held several positions over the years. She was a deaconess, a member of the advisory board and Sunday School secretary. She also did volunteer work with many organizations, one of which was Child Evangelism. Margaret belonged to many chapters of TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly), where she had many friends and was a KOP (Keep off Pounds) for the last several years of her life.

Margaret described herself as a homemaker, raising four children. She was considered by her family to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. During her life, she was fortunate to travel to Europe and Asia. Margaret was always ready to go.

Her hobbies included embroidery, reading, long rides in the country and going to the movies. In her later years, she lived at Horton Plaza, in Medford where she was known as "Miss Margaret" because of her witty, curious and forthright personality.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Nick Neufeld; parents, Warren and Myrtle Cloake; and sisters, Jane Cloake and Barbara Langholff. She is survived by her four children, Gerald Neufeld and his wife, Gail, of Grants Pass, Oregon, Sandy Strader of Pendleton, Oregon, Gwen Neufeld-Lloyd and her husband, Bill of Fort Jones, California, and Beth Hallett and her husband, John of Medford, Oregon; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
