Hi Paul,

My mother was a Cliburn. I've traced our line to Alexander S. Cliburn, b. abt. 1820 in Robeson Co., NC. He was married to Sarah Catherine Stewart. I'm told our ancestors are William A. and Appie Pittman but I haven't been able to make the connection myself. I also understand that we're connected to Cliburns in England. Could you please send me the information you have? I would love to have it so I can begin to make some connections in my line.

Please email me directly at kaystange@attbi.com. If I can help you in your research in any way, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks very much,
Kay (Newton/Cliburn) Stange

Hi Ann,

I don't think I have any information that will help you. I've looked through my Cliburn records and find the only person in my line with a similar birthdate to your William is my great grandfather, James Alexander Cliburn. He was born in 1854 in Lawrence County, MS. He married Estelle Elizabeth (Mollie) Dear (b. 1861).

James could be a sibling of your William--or a cousin. I've not been able to find a conclusive list of James' siblings so this is only a guess. But IF he was a sibling of your William, their parents would have been Alexander S Cliburn (b. abt 1820) and Sarah Catherine Stewart (b. abt. 1830).

Alexander's parents were James Cliburn and Appy Pittman. If you check these lines, you might find your ancestor in there.

Good luck. Let me know if I can be of any further help (not that I've probably done much here!).

I am a descendant of Mary Elizabeth Cliburn who lived in Bradley County, Arkansas right before the Civil War and married a John P. Hobson. I believe her mother was Sarah C. Stewart Cliburn for she was in Bradley Co. Arkansas on the 1860 and 1870 census. Does anyone have the exact death date of Alexander S. Cliburn, and was it in MS or AR?

I am trying to establish the connection between those generations. If you know of any proof, please let me know.
Also, Alexander's father: was it James Cliburn married to Appy Pittman?

Thank you.

My Grandfather James A.Cliurn, born in Bradley Co., died in Andersan Co., TX in 1929, was a brother of your Mary E. Cliburn Hopson. Their sister Susan moved to live with her brother, my Grandfather, after her husband died.

Where is Mary Cliburn Hobson Burried? Also, where is my Great Grandmother Sara Stewart Cliburn burried? I have been searching for this information a long time. I will appreciate any information.

Please email me at mcmmcq@aol.com.

Sincerely,
CM Cliburn (A cousin)

I have a different email now: genelistmom@yahoo.com/

Hello again,
Im still looking for my Cliburn family. I have found a few new things..such as JP (Joseph Peterson) Cliburn, (of Iowa) his dad was "Ephraim Cliburn" b. 28 Jun 1862-1863 in Jackson Co., Illinois and died 12 Apr 1947 in Perry Co., Illinois. They had lived also in St. Louis and Barton Co., Missouri, Iowa and Wisconsin. His (JP's) mother was Rose 'Alace' OWENS, d/o Joseph Kensey OWENS, of Indiana and Sarah Elizabeth RAMSEY/RAMSAY of Illinois. Some of the other surnames that run through the family are: Margaret CAIN of South Carolina & her parents-Patrick CAIN/E and Catherine COZZENS-both of South Carolina, then, Namcy Ann BLAIR of Ireland and TRIPLETT, Im not real sure of this last surname because the the first name is "BECKETT" TRIPLET. If anyone connects on any or all of this info please let me know. Most of my family ended up in Missouri and California, but there are allot of Cliburn's in Iowa too, I just have'nt been able to connect them as of yet.
Thank You and Happy Digg'en,
Sandee,
