I would like to hear from anyone who is researching the name Clibbett. Here is some more information I have found on the family.

William George West Clibbett born December Qtr 1861 Clifton, Gloucestershire. Son of Mary Ann Clibbett and Unknown Clibbett.

William George West Clibbett married Maria Emma Fisher June Qtr 1890 Eton, Buckinghamshire.

1901 Census.
All living Pokesdown, Hampshire.
William Clibbett age 39 born Bristol Boot & Shoe Shopkeeper
Maria Clibbett age 44 born Norwich
William Clibbett age 9 born Bournemouth
Esther Clibbett age 8 born Bournemouth
Caroline Clibbett age 6 born Pokesdown
Frank Clibbett age 3 born Pokesdown
Mary Clibbett age 62 born Poole, Dorset.

Mary Ann Clibbett Nee Tucker was married to Richard Clibbett Born 1838 in appledore to William and Thomazena Clibbett. William was known as William Clibbett junior and was a prominent ship builder in Appledore. You can search search on line the vast ammount of info transcribed by David Carter ,just search EG Appledore Census 1841 etc. he also has transcribed church and MI records. In one census in Clifton Mary ann is with Richard as a Visitor and her mother is his house keeper !Anne TaylorTucker

Hi the Clibbetts of Appledore/bideford were my relatives and I know for sure that some were intered at St Marys in Appledore and I actually have managed to collate a list of the ships dating from the early 1800s and before then were shipbuilders in Newfoundland . David Carter also mentions the Clibbetts as being famous for building a steam ship in 1830

We have just re started our Ancestry membership,I am connected with William Clibbett Snr and Jnr Shipbuilders of Appledore and have a huge ammountof family info.2 Cibbett sisters MARRIED cAPT wILLIAM sTAPLEDON( b 1829 ),in 1856 amd 1868 let me know what info I can passyou.Not stre re Newfoundland but i have a list of ALL clibbett built ships-Anne Taylor

My g-g-grandfather was a customer of William Clibbett: the Harriot and Phoebe, a 24-ton smack, built 1836. I have an image of her registration certificate - registered to William Clibbett briefly before she was re-registered to William Simons in Llanelli, South Wales.
