Hi Jessica
I've been doing some research on behalf of a friend, and it looks like Clibbens has been spelt Clibbons or Clibbans in the past.
Mispellings were common because before 1900, many people couldn't read and write. Often the only time your name was written down was when the parson asked "What's the name of this child?"... "Do you take this woman..." or "What was the name of the deceased?". If you couldn't read and write, you usually couldn't spell either, so if he wrote down what he thought he heard you say - you couldn't correct it for him.
Kind regards
Ian
