Hello Anna:

I have pulled out all of my research but I cannot find the Clarks you listed. I have John Clark, but he was not born until 1905 in Alabama. A little late for your relatives.

I have a George Wesley Clark (b 1832 TN/ died unk)and a Hiram G. Clark(b 3-17-1870 TN/ d 1-23-1922 AL) Hiram married Mary Ann Conley 5-23-1892 and they had 12 children.

Hiram's father, Wesley as he was called, married Mary Ann Chamber abt 1856 in either NC or TN. I have a line on their children but I cannot verify if it is Hiram;s father/family for sure. Record keeping of birth, death and marriages is very unreliable back then and Ancestry.com is no better.

If I run across your family members in my research I will be glad to respond and let you know what I discovered.

Thanks for your help, if you see anything close, please keep me in mind.
Our Clarks lived in Ozark, Mo, for awhile, then to Mills county, IA, finally Sarpy County, NE. Mostly, can't verify any of this until the last group in Sarpy County.
Rumor was George moved up here, took off with a wagon train, leading it to California, never returned. Can't verify that either.
Since the names, George, Hirem, Wilbur, fall in your line, I'm hoping someday to find some connection.
Thanks
Dee

Joe, I finally remembered to reply to your reply to my inquiry!! My ancestors include Thomas Madden Clark > John Bascomg Clark > Leonard Douglas Clark > Bert William Clark (my father). Other than a blue Clark Genealogy book written in 1955 (with many errors) I don't know of any new, more accurate ones of the Clarks. Do you know of any and how I can get it?

Thanks,
Lisa

Well Joe, I just looked at your My Family Tree list of names and no one is related to me. We obviously belong to seperate Clark branches of the family, so I guess you can't help me. But, let me know if you come across Clarks from Etheridge, Lawrence Cty. Tennessee area if you please?

Thanks
Lisa

Lisa:

There is a rather exhaustive study book writen by S.A. Perry and it is titles "Clark Family Records" and was published in Camden, South Carolina date unspecified. The back of the book is a treasure trove of reference books the author used for his research. You may want to try and find a copy of it at a local library. It may well be worth your while to read it.

I am still looking for my wayward Clark/Conoly/Conley/Chambers (my family has the letter C sewed up in the alphabet-lol) family members in the wilds of Tennessee and Kentucky.

Let me know if you find the book. If not write back and I'll try to scan it(55 pgs) and email it to you.

Joe
