Wondering if anyone knows the history of this cemetery. Went there yesterday, but couldn't get to it because of poison ivy. Going back in a month. There is a huge house across the street from the cemetery. The women that lives there said a Clapper built it, but didn't know who. Took pictures of the house. There is a date on the house and a name. Date is 1857, name can't read. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Loretta Hunt

Clappers from Romania

RI just found out that CLAPPER is the maiden name of my great great grandmother. Her name was Sarah Clapper and she was married to Abraham Unger. The family emigrated from Berlad, Rumani which is in the NE part of Rumania, to the Moldavian border.

Abraham and Sarah had several children including Rose, Gitel (m. Schlomo Silverman), Yetta (my great grandmother, m. Isaac Hershkowitz), Esther, Dora, Anna, David (m. Frances), Becky (married a Rosner or Rossner), Mollie (m. Louis Gingold), and Fanny (married a Moscowitz).

All of the family emigrated to NY except for Abraham who I believe died in Romania. All of the grown children emigrated to NYC except Rose. Most of them lived in Brooklyn, Bronx and surrounding areas. Rose stayed behind and survived the Nazi occupation but her husband and son in law were killed by the Soviets.

If you have any information on the history of Clappers from Romania or any info on this family let me know :)

I saw your post on this message board about the Clappers in America. Would you be kind enough to look up a name in the book for me? I am related to the Clappers through Elizabeth Clapper (1810-1886), daughter of George Clapper Jr (1781-1864). Elizabeth married Marshall Hughs/Hughes. Could you see if there is anything in the book relating to Elizabeth and Marshall Hughs? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! kristinehugh@hotmail.com

Hi there. Sounds like we are cousins. I would love to get any information on Jack and his family that you would be willing to share. My grandma Betty was the only child born to Jack and my Great Grandma Daisy Reed. I was only about 6 months old when grandpa Jack passed away. My grandma Betty before she passed, was pretty sure she remembers hering they had cherokee decent, if this proves to not be true this will be disappointing but that is how the cookie crumbles. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for your help.

Hello there! My part of the family tree with Grandpa Jack is petty much a dead end for me. I know that he died in 1967 when I was only a few months old. He had kept up with the family and my mom and her brothers and sisters visited him in Bonner Springs when they were kids. I have been to the cemetary in Bonner Springs. I was wondering if you could fiull in his mom's name, Dad's name, etc. There is also rumor that he was of Cherokee decent. Can this be denied or confirmed? Anything you can send me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Volynne

Pauline may have been married to Glenwood E. Clapper, son of Earl Clapper and Jennie Kellog.
Carolyn

I had an Aunt Pauline Marie Clapper from Saginaw, Michigan. She was born on June 05, 1905 in Manistee, Missaukee, Michigan. She was the daughter of Joseph Skrzypczynski and Bertha Addam. The Skrzypczynski name has been changed many times; last one being changed to Pinski or Lapinski. She had two sons and five grandchildren when she died. She was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Saginaw, Michigan. Hope that helps.
Carolyn
