A precinct is not a town, it is a subdivision of a voting ward. Go into GenWeb and read about Stephenson Co., it gives all the town names from the time the county was formed. Amos Davis that resided in Stephenson Co., Ill, is not the Amos Davis that took Mary Ann Simpson to raise it was his son and his wife Mary Jane Scott. And they were in Nauvoo, Hancock, Ill in 1840. I am in touch with a genealogist that lives right near Stephenson Co. and he assures me that there was no Brewster, not only that, but for the past 2 years he has searched all of Stephenson Co., for some record of the Lyman Simpson family to no avail. http://earlylds.com. I do have the record of Mary Ann Simpson and William James Powell and in his history that he wrote Amos Davis, who took Mary Ann in was with him from the time they left Ill. At no time do they ever speak of Stephenson Co., Ill. So unless you have proof positive that there was A Brewster, Stephenson, Ill and ypou can show that Mary Ann Clapp Simpson died there, I will go ahead with my searching in other parts of Ill. for her
