If anybody out there is researching the Clackett lineage, please contact me as I have a bunch of information from their days in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Also, Henry fought in the Civil War in the 87th and 40th (Mozart) New York Regiment and I have been consolidating this research. As he traveled to New York in 1837 from England, I am looking to secure further information about his father in Kent County, England.
Sincerely, Charlie Clackett

Re: Henry Mannering Clackett
Hi Charlie, I am researching the Clackett family, but have not had too much luck connecting up my branch to anybody else. Please e mail me back with any info. My father, Roy, was born in Higham, Kent - I was born in Poole but now live in Michigan. Linda Shearing ( nee Clackett )

Re: Henry Mannering Clackett
Hello Charlie and Linda,
I am researching Clackett's in Kent. My branch starts (ends?) with my father-in-law, coincidentally named Roy Henry James Clackett. He was born in 1924 in Maidstone. I can trace his father (Henry George b 1894) and Grandfather (Robert George b. 1842) but am stuck on his Great-Grandfather Charles Francis. Charles Francis Clackett appears on the Maidstone Voter Register in 1845 and on Robert Georges birth certificate, also Maidstone - but I believe he was born in the Medway or Faversham area - where the bulk of the Clacketts appear prior to 1800. Do either of you have any ideas how to find my Charles Francis Clackett? Thanks,
Jeri

Hi Jeri, We might have a connection somewhere along the line but it will take a bit more research. My father Roy Charles Clackett was born in Higham in 1918, his father Charles Henry was born in Ospringe in 1894. His father Samuel was born in Stalisfield and his father, Henry was born in Throwley c 1846. The next two generations - Robert c 1811 and John c 1788 were from Faversham. Do any of these names sound familiar? So far I have not found a connection with Charlie's family but we both feel there is a connection somewhere as neither of us seem to be related to the William Clackett and Martha Houghton line from the Boughton Blean area. I have two other Charles' in my tree one c 1864, the other c 1851 neither of which fit with your Charles Francis. The only other info I have on a Charles Clackett is from a War Memorial in Dover, he was killed in 1918 in WW1. His parents, Charles and Anne were originally from Colchester, Essex so that might be another lead to follow. I don't know if any of this will be any help or not. Regards Linda

Hmm, I can't seem to connect to the Boughton Blean group either. My Charles Francis might have married Sarah Mecoy or McCoy in Frindsbury in 1830, but that is all I know about him. Everyone later was born in Maidstone - definitly not your group either. Well, I'll just keep trying, thanks for the information. (Funny abour the Roy name - my father in law never knew where his father got the idea for the name... and there's yours, surely a cousin, with the same name!)
