The Frances Clackett I mentioned married my great grandfather, Charles Lewry who was born in West Chiltington, Sussex, England in 1827. They were married in 1850. Their children were Charles, Walter Frank and George Henry (my grandfather).
Hope to hear from you.

I don't know of any connection with your Lewry family. My Lewry family came from Sussex, England. I don't know when they arrived, but the family lived in Brooklyn, NY.

Hi
In my One Name Study data I have a Charles Lewry born 1827 West Chiltington but he married a Mary ann in 1854 in the Godstone reg dist. Their children were Richard 1854, James 1858, Thomas 1861 and John 1861 all born Brighton.
BUT in my notes I have: "Although census give Charles wife as Mary Ann, freebmd give his wife as Esther Newington. The marriage was in Godstone dist. In 1861 Charles is a bricklayers labourer and is living at 69 Woburn Place Brighton. In 1871 Charles is a bricklayers clerk and is living at 25 Washington street Brighton in a shared house.
It is possible that Charles emigrated to the US between 1871 and 1881. This seems to throw up the possibility that Charles had 2 or even 3 wives !!

Is there a possibility that CLACKETT could be a spelling variation of CLAGETT/CLAGGETT/CLAGGET?

I have the following in my database:

Allison C. CLAGETT
David M. CLAGETT
Edward A. CLAGETT
Esther Milhollan CLAGETT
Joseph Leo CLAGETT, Jr.
Joseph Leo CLAGETT, Sr.
Kathleen E. CLAGETT
Kathleen Phillips CLAGETT
Leo CLAGETT
Mary Henderson CLAGETT
Peggy CLAGETT
Stephanie L. CLAGETT
Stephen W. CLAGETT
Timothy M. CLAGETT, Jr.
Timothy M. CLAGETT, Sr.
Thomas CLAGGETT
Ann Belt CLAGGETT

The above individuals have been found on BOTH my mother's side (DC) and father's side (Maryland) of my family. I can't help but wonder if all of these CLAGETTs/CLAGGETTs are related to each other.

Does anyone recognize any of the above names?

Thanks!

Hi Brenda-

Wondering if you got any further with the study of Clacketts from Kent County, England? I am still stuck at Henry Clackett born 1801.

Best regards.
