I am seeking information about Alexander Clacher of Chicago, who married Elizabeth Black (widow of Robert Black), 14 Sep 1883. They had two children: John b. 1886, and Alexander b. 1888. Elizabeth had three children prior to this marriage: Marion Black (m. John Creighton Todd), b. 1865, Isabella Black b. 1877, and Robert A Black b. about 1879 (around which time the elder Robert Black died; Robert A was dec. before 1900 Census). Elizabeth's oldest child was born in Scotland, the next two were born in TN, and the last two were born in Chicago. The 1900 census record indicates that John & Alexander's father was born in Scotland, but the elder Alexander Clacher is dec. by 1900 and Elizabeth is shown as being widowed, so I don't know if this is an enumerator error or if Alexander Clacher the elder was from Scotland. He is not listed in any census record in the United States, though he is listed in the 1881 and 1891 Lakeside Directory (Chicago).
Elizabeth's maiden name was Stevenson.
Any information about this family would be greatly appreciated.
