Hello,

I'm tracing Clabbys from nearby Roscommon, possibly Tulsk parish. My great-great-great grandfather was James Clabby, born sometime around 1800 in Roscommon. We believe he married Susan Murphy. They had three children that we know of: Susan, Bridget and James Jr., born in the 1830s and 1840s. James Sr. may have died near Birmingham, England, in 1851. His children certainly settled in that area before emigrating to America between 1865 and 1890. In the late 1970s, a cousin of my grandfather's was in touch with a John Clabby of Clondra, whose family had come out of Roscommon a generation or two before. Don't know if they ever established a connection, but thought I'd say hello in case any of these people sound familiar!

Hi Jenna,
I have also been researching the Clabbys. I have learned that James Clabby was baptised on 15 March 1858, and I do know that he was a twin. So I believe this record to be accurate. It lists his mother as Catherine Courtney. I aslo have a copy of James's death certificate which lists Catherine Corrigan?
I am confused... Did James and Catherine Courtney break up and he remarried Catherine Corrigan?
If you are still in Longford, can you help me find further records?
I attached everything in my tree..
