Hi kevin,
My grandmother was Ellen Clabby, her father, James Clabby, born about 1860 in Longford Ireland, probably Drumlish or vacinity. He helped my great grand mother on my mother's father's side, Bridget Kiernan, take a pig or cow from her father's farm and sell it for passage to America.
My mother's cousin, Eleanore Rooney visited Ireland in the 1970s and saw the family house that had just gotten a new non-thatched roof, however no one can find her records/research. James Clabby's Death Certificate has that his parents were John Clabby and Catherine Corrigan. What is the best way to research this from the US? Do you have any info that might help?
If you can e-mail me at
york3m@aol.com that might be easier as I am not quite sure how these message boards work.
Thanks!
Maryellen
