Marilou, I have the following ancestors: Frederick Claybaugh,
born 1700, his son William born 1730 married about 1759 in Hagerstown, Maryland, his son William born 1783 in Frederick, Maryland. His son was William Henderson Claybaugh born 1811 and was my ggg grandfather. The birth years are wrong but can these be the same men? Ken Claybaugh

Hi Ken - Yes, I believe these are the same people. I have William Henderson Claybaugh, born 27, Feb 1811 in Allegaheny Cty PA. He was the brother of Gideon C. Claybaugh, born 8, Jan 1813 Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA. Gideon was my gggrandfather. I got a lot of my info from Jerry Smith and some on line research, so I could be off a bit on dates. Can you document any corrections I need to make?

I would love to hear or see whatever you would like to share.

I have a new email address at ohwell999@juno.com, but can be reached through the messageboards.

Take care and hope to hear from you

I think this is the link you are looking for but not sure if the info is all correct. Fredrick b. 1700? in Germany d1735 m Mary B 1724. He was my #5gr grandad. He had a son, my #4gr-grandad, Wm b.1730 d1784 m Mary Kieffer 1759. Their last child was Wm. b.1785 m Barbara Kieffer. Wm 1 had a brother--Henry (bullit) that was my #3 gr-grandad. Does this match any of what you wanted to know?

Dear Ken and Marilou,

I am just now reading your messages regarding William CLAYBAUGH and am wonderinf if either of you are familiar with a sister, Elizabeth Mary CLAYBAUGH born 16 Now 1807 in Pennsylvania who married a John MORRIS in Clark County,Ohio in 1827? I am certain her father's name was William CLAYBAUGH but have no other information.
I would love to hear from either of you even if you aren't familiar with her.

Thanks,

Karen, Have only Just seen your notice re:Cla[y]baughs. Hope you get this. I am searching for a Sarah Claybaugh b. abt 1829, Ohio. She married John W. Williamson. Also a Burges D. Clabaugh [don't know b. or d.] who married John W.'s sister Sarah Jane on 24 Dec. 1857, Franklin Co. Ohio - they lost a baby daughter [9 mo] in 1859, Groveport, Ohio.
Don't know if this fits into any info. you have, but thought I'd ask, just in case...I am getting desperate on this one. Thanks "annie"

Dear Annie,

I don't think our Claybaughs are connected. My ggg grandmother was Elizabeth Mary Claybaugh, b. 16 Nov 1807 in Pennsylvania and married John Morris 31 May 1827 in Clark County, Ohio. They later moved to Illinois where they both died and are buried in Atlanta, IL.

I did see a Claybaugh listed in an index for a 2008 publication put together by the Clark County Ohio Genealogy Society titled " Deaths of 1844 - Aug 15, 1851 Abstracted from The Republic, Springfield, Clark County, Ohio." The deceased's name was Mrs. Rebecca Claybaugh.

I know very little about my Claybaughs so can't definitely say we aren't related.

Good luck in your search.

Karen

Hello Karen, Thank you for your reply. I will keep all the info.you have given me. It may prove helpful further down the line. The more I can learn about the Claybaughs, the better. On a 'what's in the name' link it said that by 1840 there were only 5 Claybaugh families in Ohio...[It didn't say how big these families were]..They do seem to be very elusive, these Claybaugh's. Thanks for the good wishes in my search, which I return in your quest for your Claybaughs. "annie"
