My grandfather was Oscar Claassen born in Seattle Mar. 7, 1892. His parents were Frank and Ann Claassen. He had six brothers - Adolph, Gustav, Henry, Herbert, Jacob, and William. He was married to Edna Ann Gallagher in 1917 in San Francisco. They had two daughters - Jane (Joan)Marie Claassen Saleeby and Elizabeth Ann Claassen Joyce (my mother). He was a pharmacists who had drug stores in Riverside (lost in the depression) and had a drug store in Tranquility, CA (near Fresno) when he died in 1960. I think the oldest son,Adolph, went to Alaska, but the others went to Paso Robles, CA and were ranchers and opened the Paso Robles Mercantile and the Paso Robles Pharmacy.
If you have any information about any of these Claassens please contact me. By the way, they considered themselves to be German.
Thanks,
Nancy
