I am related to Dianna Civello of Buffalo, New York, who traced her grandfather, Rosario Civello, to a very small town called Montemaggiore in Sicily. Montemaggiore is in the region of Palermo, about 20 miles from Termini and the sea.
Our great-grandfather lived in Brooklyn, New York intermittently during the early 1900s, although I do remember a story about him as a very young man being held against his will at a labor camp somewhere in the southern part of the United States.
It could have been Louisiana. Anyway, he died in Italy while his children were still young and living in Brooklyn. When they finally got the news, they decided to move north from Brooklyn to the farmlands of western New York State, not far from Toronto, Ontario.
Whether or not any of this sounds familiar, I would enjoy hearing from you.
