Ciuccio, Ciucci, Cuicci - Campana, Accarino, Guma, Ricciardi, Orrico
Hi! My g-grandfather is Pietro Ciuccio from Trentinara, Salerno, Italy. His parents names are Stefano Ciuccio and Maria Angela Vernaglia. He came to the US in 1888 with his wife, Maria Teresa Quaglia, two sisters Elisa & Elvira, and 3 children. At some point, the "o" was dropped by him to become Ciucci, and somehow my grandfather became Cuicci while his brother was Cucci. He also had sisters named Gemma and Caterina, and possibly Maddelena. If this sounds familiar to anyone, please post a reply?! Thanks

Re: Ciuccio, Ciucci, Cuicci - Campana, Accarino, Guma, Ricciardi, Orrico
I read your post about the Ciuccio last name on Ancestry.com and I hope this message reaches you.
My name is Anthony Paul Vernaglia. I was born in Providence, Rhode Island and now live in Massachusetts. My great-grandfather was Antonio Vernaglia, a doctor born in Trentinara in 1871. His parents names were Luigi Vernaglia and Madalena Ciuccio! My great-grandmother's name was Maria Vernaglia, who was born in Salerno. She was actually the first cousin of my great-grandfather. Her parents names were Antonio Avigliano and Irena Ciuccio. Irena and Madalena were sisters. We do not know the names of their parents.
Our family knows of the Ciuccio name, but have never met any direct descendents with this surname. I wonder if there is a connection with my family and yours.
I have been to Trentinara and with our relatives there, have traced the Vernaglia family back to about the early 1800's. I have been told that the family surname Ciuccio was changed to Vernaglia at some point, and there probably are no longer any descendents there that still use it. My genealogy search has been the Vernaglia surname.
I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to drop me a line.

Hi Anthony! There is much to discuss as I think we have a distant connection. Please respond to my personal email as I don't think I could explain everything here!

ciao anna, my name is Anthony Vernaglia, I live in the United States. My great grandfather was Antonio Vernaglia, he was the son of Luigi Vernaglia. Our family is from Trentinara and I believe the Accarino family may be distantly related, not completely sure. I have been to Trentinara and met my relatives still living there. Please write, I would like to hear from you.
Ciao, Anthony

Hello: My Paternal Grandmother's father was Pietro Ciuccio and after reading your post I do believe we are related. I have been searching the family tree for years and was very surprised to find the entire Vernaglia Tree on this site. My Grandmother was Stefanina Ciuccio who married Matteo Bernarducci. I have been trying to trace the Bernarducci/Bernaducci family back to Trentinara but have not been successful. Do you have any documentation on the marriage or church in Trentinara that my contain info on the Bernarducci side? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Hope to hear from you soon, Thank you, Carol Bernaducci

Hello Anna: My name is Carol Bernaducci, my Great Grandfathers name was Pietro Ciuccio, born June 4, 1853 in Trentinara, he was married to Maria Teresa Quaglia. Pietro Ciuccio had a sister named Elvira Ciuccio, born in 1870 in Trentinara, and she married Biasio Accarino some time in 1896 and they had six children. I believe the family eventualy moved to New Jersey. Are you possibly related to these people?

Re: Ciuccio, Ciucci, Cuicci - Campana, Accarino, Guma, Ricciardi, Orrico
My great-grandmother was Caterina Cuicci who married Gaetano Ricciardi in Salerno, Italy and moved to New York City. They had three sons and a daughter named Bartholomeo, Leonardo, and Charles and a daughter Rosina, called Rose. Rose married Edward Scala in Jersey City, NJ. They had eight children. My mother, Anna Maria Scala, married my father Manuel Cintron. We have always heard about our relatives but never knew how to get in touch. Please e-mail me at rockazan@yahoo.com. I know of relatives in NJ - Toms River, Jersey City, Spring Lake, Manahawkin, and Secaucus and in Florida.
