My mother's maiden name was Sitrin. When they first came over from Poland they spelled it Citryn. There are relatives in Ontario, Canada who spell their name Citrin. My mother's father was Nathan Sitrin and his father was Wolf Sitrin. I don't know who Wolf's wife was. Do you have any dates for your branch of the Citrins?

I am married into the Sitrin family, which we are assuming
is an alternate spelling of the "Citrin/Cytryn" family.

My wife's grandparents were Charles T. Sitrin
and Florence Rosen Sitrin of Utica, NY.
(There is a Charles T. Sitrin Home in Utica in his name;
a Google search on "Sitrin" comes up first with it,
www.sitrin.com)
On her 90th birthday in 1993, we presented Florence Sitrin
with a hand-inked extensive Sitrin family tree. I hope to
make it available online soon.

Do any of you know direct links between Sitrins and Citrins?

My mother's maiden name was Sitrin. When the family came through Ellis Island in the early 1900's the name was also spelled Citrin or Citryn. There are relatives in Toronto who spell their name Citrin. There were actually 2 Charles T. Sitrins, the one for whom the nursing home was named, and mother's brother who lived on Seymour Avenue in UTica for many years. They are all buried in the Tifereth Zvi cemetery in Whitesboro, NY.

I'd love to see the family tree. If you need any help with my mother's branch of the family, let me know. How far back were you able to trace them? My mother's parents were Nathan and Anna Sitrin. Nathan's father's name was Wolfe Sitrin.

Surnames: Sitrin
My mother-in-law is Ellen Sitrin, daughter of Charles T. Sitrin for whom the nursing home was named. She and her
sisters (Beverly and Judy) grew up in Utica (they lived on Pleasant St).
I just checked with Bev (she lives in the NY area), and she recalls your mother's brother (the other Charles T. Sitrin),
from Seymour Ave. She also recalls Wolfe Sitrin.
She is the keeper of the caligraphy
framed family tree. I will try to scan it in and make available. Please contact me directly at my email address:

Thanks Joe! My grandparents were Nathan and Anna Sitrin. I also grew up in Utica, although I now live in Rochester. I will write to your email address.

I see the name Motl Zylberman. Did he have a brother named Shmul Zylberman? I am the daughter of Shmul Zylberman and looking for members that might have survived.
Thanks
