I am searching for any information on my Grandfather John Cisco who lived in Brentwood, NY Suffolk County up until about 7 Years ago when He Died. My grandfather's first marriage was to a Helen Cox, they had 2 children John Thomas Cisco b. 04/16/1939, and Gloria Cisco b. ?, they then split and both remarried and had more children. My grandmother then married a Charles Selerno and had 2 more Children (Elaine Selerno and Charles Selerno Jr. (1/2 Uncle)who died at the age of 13 and is buried in Pine Lawn Cemetary. I have a Half Uncle whose name is also John Cisco and lives in Patchogue, NY Suffolk County. I would appreciate any more info that anyone could give me.
Thank you,
Michelle (Cisco) Trimble

Ms. Trimble,
It took me almost two years to read your request about a John Cisco. Please look up the history of Cisco,Texas and see if this is your Uncle John. Not to be disrespectable, but why would a town be named after a lawyer from New York???? This John Cisco must have been a respectable gentleman and a great help to many a townsfolk in the late 1800's.........Later jcisco@juno.com

Hi Nancy,

My line of Cisco came from NY. The only information that I have is that my Grandfather John J. Cisco was born in 1913. He married my Grandmother Helen Cox and they had 2 children, John T. Cisco b: 1939 and Gloria Cisco not sure of her year of birth. My grandfather and Grandmother divorced and my grandfather married a lady by the name of Antoinette. I believe they had 2 children a John D. Cisco and a Robert L. Cisco. My grandfather died in March of 1994. I am getting stumped also at every turn. My son has a fimly tree project that he is doing for school and I don't know anything about my father's side of the family. I am also doing this because i lost my father 7 weeks ago and I want to be able to pass information on to my children and eventually their children. If you by any chance have any information I would greatly appreciate it.

Hope to hear from you soon.

The towns named Cisco in Texas and California were named for John J. Cisco, US Assistant Treasurer in New York, who was treasurer of the Southern Pacific Railroad. He was my great-great grandfather. I am seeking any of his Cisco descendants. His son was John Ashfield Cisco, grandson (my grandmother's brother) was John J. Cisco II, great grandson was John Jay Cisco Junior (b. 1891) and Jay's son (1921) was (is?) known to the family as Johnny so it wouldn't surprise me if he was a John J. Cisco III.

I am looking for Jay Guy Cisco (Jay could be nickname for John). He was born on April 25, 1844 and wrote a book called Historic Sumner County,Tn. He married Mildred Georgia Pursley and had 5 boys and 3 girls. He died in Nashville, Tn in 1922.
