Hi,
My grandfather was Giuseppe Cisbani who came from Fermo, Italy about 1910. I am interested in finding relatives in all the world too and specially about by ancestors.

I found that there are 42 people in Italy phone directory. I also found lots of web pages owned by Evaristo Cisbani and another Cisbani in Panamá. Anyway, as they are in yahoo, so I guess you already know this.

You can contact me either in spanish or english.

Hi! Why are you looking for the Cisbani all over the world? Anyway, I'm one of them... the family of my father came from Fermo in Marche region, just like the other person who replied to your message. This surname is common in that area of Italy and, as far as I know, only there. In the city where I live, there are 3 or 4 Cisbani, all from Fermo.
About the meaning of this surname: someone told to my father that it comes from old greek "cis" (means from the other side) and "baino" that means to go or to come. The idea is that the Cisbani could have passed the adriatico sea, coming from somewhere in eastern europe. (P.S. Fermo is near the sea and from there during a light day one could see Croazia). The other possibility is that the name comes from "cis" and the name of some mountains in ex-Iugoslavia called "Bani"... but I couldn't find this mountains on the map I have at home... well... this is what I know about our surname!

Dear Valentina
I m a Cisbani from Fermo, the town where your parents come from.
Cisbani is not a Fermo authocton name. The first Cisbanis came to Fermo, may be, at the beginning of 19° century, and the original name was probably Cisba' . Your theory about the coming from ex Jugoslavia should be totally wrong. As fare as i know our ancestors were located principally in Emilia and they are used to do some deal in Fermo with livestock.
If you could provide me with some details about your relatives in Fermo, i will tell you if we are relatives too.
Waiting to hear from you
Lorenzo
