My mother's maiden name was Rocca and her father came from Italy around the time you mentioned. They setteled near Fresno California. What's interesting is that my last name is Ciraulo.

Am I correct in saying you are Edith's son?

If so, I happened upon the death notice of Aunt Verna and let Heidi and John know. I am thier mother.

I have been looking for the ship that Joe and Charlie came over on. There were so many Rocca's going through Ellis Island about the time that Grandpa Joe came over. I have not found Charlie's name anywhere, but many his age were just listed as "infant". There are a lot of Jospep's, John's, Gueseppi's & Giovanni's at that time.

Also, in the Fresno Census from either 1910 or 1920, there was a Giovanni Rocca (Joe's father) and a John Rocca. Judging from the census, they lived dairly close to one another, which would lead me to believe they were related.

If you are Edith's son, email me back at jandavis@swbell.net

I know that Heidi would love to hear from you & I can update you on Heidi and John.

Your post about Armand assured me that you are Edith's son.

I called & let Heidi know, she would love to hear from you.

Someone (I think Lowell or Evelyn) said that at one time you were doing some genealogy work. Would love to share information.

I have been working on the Child, Mims, LaFerry & Simpson genealogy for about 10 years, tedious work.

I started on the Rocca's about 3 years ago and have not even gotten through all of the Ellis Island information. Have been going ship by ship. I did not have a lot to start on, I just remember a few things Grandpa Joe told me.

I have not attempted Clay yet. That is such a common name that it would be a real tough job to go through, unless Grandma Evelyn has given you some information. I only know her father's name and where she was from.

Maybe we can pool information on both.
