Hi, Mark:
In what town in Sicily can you trace them back to? The name is not common as you know. I am interested if we are related and if so, through who?
I would greatly appreciate anything you can send me.
Thanks much!

My last name is Ciraulo as well and all of my family is in San Jose, CA too. Could we possibly be related?
|
I would think that if your family was from Polizzi Generosa then we are most certainly related!
Can you trace your family back to that town or Trapani?

My Great Grandmother was Rose Ciraulo, born in the USA, probably around 1878. Her parents were Sylvester Ciraulo and Frances (I don't know her maiden name). Sylvester was born in Sicily. According to my grandmother, Sylvester's father Pasquale Ciraulo was the mayor of a village named Cumadini. Unfortunately my grandmther passed away a few years ago, so I cannot ask her for any more information. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

If you look at the ship registry records of Ellis Island all of the "Ciraulo" family members came from Sicily. Some of those who stayed in Sicily moved to the north but I am fairly certain that we are all related.
My branch of the Ciraulo family married into the Giresi family also from Sicily - Polizzi Generosa. I remember seeing the Ellis Island records showing a Sylvester. Did you check there?

I just happend upon this forum. I am the daughter of Joseph Ciraulo, born San Francisco. His father, Anthony Ciraulo, came from Sicily he was 3 I think. He should be in the record book from Ellis Island. I will have to find out more. As far as I remember also, i always heard they were from Palermo. Ill get back to you when i find out more names.
