Hi Loretta,
I am working on my Moschella Family Tree and it includes the families of Carmelo and Biaggio Ciraolo both of whom married Santa Moschella's. I have a fairly complete listing of their children.---Mel

Surnames: Ciraolo
Hello - this could be a coincidence, but I also have family members with these names.

My father was Salvatore (Sam) Ciraolo, who's mother's name was Santa Moschella and father's name was Carmelo Ciraolo. They had 7 children (6 who lived to adulthood): John (Giovanni), Joseph (Gusseppi, Domenica, Josephine, Enrico and Salvatore who immigrated to the U.S. from Roccalumeria, Sicily in 1913. However, the Ellis Island records show that they sailed out of S. Teresa. They lived in Albany, NY until around 1935 and then moved to California.

Could we be related?
Thanks and best regards,
Maria

9/17/2003 - Just looked at your message tonight for first time. Just returned from a trip to Modesto, CA with my father -Biagio Ciraolo. We were visiting his cousins, the Mantarro family. While there, we visited with a Ciraolo - Mary - widow of a Ciraolo. My dad's family worked a farm with the Mantarro family in upstate NY. I am getting more info and will forward. Sorry it took so long to see your reply.

Hello Loretta,
Thanks very much for your reply. I actually heard about this visit. You actually visited with my mother, along with my cousins Don and Carmen...and she told me that she enjoyed meeting you all very much. It's very nice to meet you as well, at least via the web! I also heard that my cousin Paul Mantarro's daughter Lisa has done some research into our family and I hope that she'll be attending the family event this Saturday.

Hi, I think we met at my grandfather's 100th birthday in Modesto, Ca. He was Joe Ciraolo. I live in San Diego. I have started researching our family tree I have found Moschella, Fazio, Egitto, Foti, Garufi, and Caminiti. My family tree is under Charvet Ciraolo and is public, if you want to take a look. I have hit a wall because I do not speak Italian. I have been thinking of hiring someone in Sicily to search further. Have you heard of anyone doing something similar?

Hi Charve, It's funny...we actually used to play together as children at his house years ago. My maiden name was Ciraolo and Uncle Joe was my dad's (Sam Ciraolo) brother. I saw a response to your message from cmelm and I recommend that you get in touch with him. He's provided tons of great information and has been my main resource. He also communicates with other members of our family via email.
Good luck!
Maria

Thank-you. I do remember playing with some cousins under the grape vines in the back patio. Was this you?

I researched my mom's side of the family and made a book for her. I would love to do the same for my dad. All of his brothers and sister are still alive, so I think it would be a good time to do this. If I find any information, I will pass it on. I do have a picture of Santa and Carmello, if you would like me to copy it.

Best regards,
Charvet
