I am trying to locate records on my Great Grandfather John Cirak who came to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 1891. Was he single or married at that time? He had three sons, Mike, John, and George. He married a second time in the USA but can't locate a record. moved to Alberta, Canada in 1907, bought land in Coaldale and his wife died when a train ran over her legs while she was gathering coal off the tracks. Can't find her death records, not sure where to look. She died between 1911 and 1916. I was told by her Grandson, that there was a big front page write up on it in the local news paper. Lethbridge? His wife's daughter came over here after her mother and married a Mihaly (Mike) Stanko and moved to Lethbridge too. Is there anyone out there who might have some answers for me?

Try looking in www.castlegarden.org From what document do you get spelling CIRYAK? The church baptismal record of the sons should have parents place of birth.
A first name Mihaly would suggest your ancestor was from part of the old world that was ruled by Hungary which would be former Czechoslovakia now Slovakia.

I am sure you know that you need to find an US or Canadian document which will give you his place of birth.

Do you know language spoken by this ancestor? Did he considered himself to be Ruthenian?

I found a record stating that he came from Bohemia. And his name is spelled Cirak on records I find him on. The Ciryak came from a relative.
