looking for ancestors of bartolo cipolla. the search for salvatore cipolla might be related. Bartolo Cipolla's father Giachomo came from Sicily and lived in New York. He had a son named Joseph, who was Bartolo's brother.

Traci Laing, just got back to the Cipollas again and found your reply, no, Salvatore's father was named Vincent and he did not come to America and the only brother that we know of was a Joseph. As you are finding out there are many many Cipolla's.Thanks anyway. Mrs. Cippy as they used to call me when I was a Cipolla.

My grandmothers brother lived in Brooklyn on Central Avenue. His name was Attilio which is Arthur. His last name was La Monica and my grandmothers last name was Cipolla. They had different fathers I guess. Who knows, still working on that.

Caro Bartolo, ti scrivo dall'Italia , non ti conosco ma siamo omonimi. ho trovato il tuo indirizzo su un programma in rete e mi chiedevo se sei di origine Italiana. Mi piacerebbe corrispondere con te, fammi sapere.... Ti mando un abbraccio dall'Italia ciao a te, e a tutti i tuoi cari Renzo Cipolla

My La Monica and Cipolla families are from Roccamena but could have been originally from other parts of Sicily or Italy. Where is your La Monica and Cipolla from? Do you know anyone related to Leonardo La Monica in Sicily?

My great-grandfather was Salvatore Cipolla. He and my great-grandmother, Antonia (Valentino) Cipolla came to the US from Palermo in 1896 with my grandfather Vincenzo (Vincent), who was then 2 or 3 (born in 1893). They originally settled in Niagra Falls, but then moved to California, where I was born and raised. My grandfather was called James for a period of time after they frist came to the US because they were wrongly told the English translation of Vincenzo was James. We have copies of papers my grandfather filed with immigration services in 1942 that outlines his history as he had to explain the different names (Vincent and James) during WWII because he was an Italian immigrant and had been honorably discharged from the Navy after WWI. The papers also reference an affidavit signed by an uncle in Niagra Falls, however, the uncle is not named and we do not have a copy of the affidavit. I would assume the uncle is Joseph. My father is also Vincent Cipolla. My Cipolla ancestors in California all died before I was born (before my Dad became an adult). My Dad is 81 and one of the oldest living Steam Locomotive Engineers. My family still lives in the Los Angeles area.
