I havent been on this site in years! Glad to hear from you! I have had so much trouble finding anything out about the Ciociola ancestry. Now that my dad has passed I have soooo many questions..I regret not being more curious earlier. I would love to hear anything and everything you can tell me!

Where in Italy are your Ciociola's from? Where did they settle in America?
|
As far as I know they originally settled in New Haven but my grandfather and grandmother ended up living on Campbell Ave in West Haven. I dont even know my grandmothers maiden name. I havent been able to talk to my Aunt Madeline about any of this. I live in the Poconos now.

Carol, Your line of Ciociola's starts with Alfonso Ciociola in the town of Bagnoli, Avellino Province, Compania, Italy. My family is from Montella - a neighboring town.
Three sons of Alfonso came to America: ...Dominico, born 7 Feb 1882 arrived in 1899. ...Alfonso, born 27 Feb 1890 arrived on 3 Aug 1907 (S/S Re D'Italia) ...Carmine, born 22 Nov 1892 arrived 12 Mar 1913 (S/S Europa)
It doesn't appear that Dominico ever married. Alfonso married Camela Iandoli. Carmine married Concetta ? (you need to ask for marriage license).
Refer to my family tree for additional details...
It is very important to contact your aunt Madeline before it is too late. Once you get her talking, you'll gain a wealth of family knowledge.
Hope this info has been of help to you..
Roy
p.s. I don't have Alfonso's wife's name, but both Alfonso Jr. and Carmine named their first daughter Madeline so I bet they were named after their grandmother.

Hi Reiddawn,
I think you are part of my in-laws family. Was Amelia's brother's name Alexander Ciociola? He is my husband's great great grandfather. Hoping to hear from you.
