I have just come across your message board which goes back to 2008 so I hope that you are still researching the Cina Family. My great Grand father was Peter Cina born around 1855. My great grand mother his first wife, Margerita schittoni. Rosalia Trapani being his second wife. My Grandmother was Susannah. I am trying to find out a bit more about Peter Cina. Unfortunatly I should have asked my Mother while she was alive.
Regards

Peter

Thanks. I believe Peter (Pietro) was the son of Anthony Cina and daughter of Angelina /Angelia but I have no substantiation for this. I believe that Rosalia was the daughter of Victor Trapani and Angela Laticina/Latina, but again have no substatiation. Any information you have on the Cina family will be greatly appreciated. This family is my wife's mother's parents.

Hello

I do not seem to have much more information than you. You may be correct on Peters parents, but i also have no proof at this time.
I do have his entry to USA from shipping registers although some slight confusion. On the 9th November 1912 on the ss Canada he is noted and also Antonino and Guiseppina. However there is a line through all three name Then.they appear on The SS San Giorgio on the 20th November but on viewing the manifest it is headed record of aliens held for special inquiry. It seems they were allowed entry. I have rosalie trapani with Antoinetta Cina and vittoria cina entry on the San Giorgia 12th July 1912 It seems that the wife went to New York first ! on the manifest Rosalie states that her mother is Angelina Latina. So you were correct and we now have some proof.
I also have viewed another document the New Brunswick and New Jersey City directory listing Peter, Rosalie and Children Anthony ( Antonino ) and Josephine ( Guiseppena ) Peter was listed as a Shoemaker. I am not sure where Peter Died, He could have gone back to Sicily?
This as much as I know at present.

You said your Mother in law is a Cina. What is her name. I am assuming you are in USA is this right. I am in England and live in London

Peter

Peter (Pietro) Cina entered Ellis 20 Nov 1912. Was to meet his wife, Rosalia Trapani, at 5 Newbury Ave. Travelling with him wre Giuseppa (f) age 11 and Antonino (m) age 9. He rentered the US 05/29/1938.
Rosalia Trapani entered through Ellis Entered US through Ellis 12 Jul 1912 on San Giorgio which sailed from Palermo on 27 July 1912.
Dob from Ellis Island manifest, lists as 39 yr. With her were Antonina, age 15 and Vittorio, age 3. Antonina was listed as a seamstress. All listed as coming from Ribera. Says she's going to join husband Pietro at "Hamburg Ave" Brooklyn. Five ft. two inches tall. Scar on eye brow. Interestingly, Teresa Saporito, 39 yr from Sutera, Sicily, was on the same ship. Said Rosalia was leaving her mother Angela Latina in Ribera.
Antonina Cina (my mother-in-laws mother) b. 19 Aug. 1897 in Agrigento province married Vincenzo Arcario (b. 22 Jun 1891) (Ribera?) on 7 Feb 1913. They had 5 daughters of whom Rosalia (Rosalie) is my mother-in-law.

In my tree I have Pietro "Peter" Cina', Margarita Schittone, Rosalia Trapani, their parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents (and even the great-great-grandparents of Rosalia Trapani), as well as 13 of their children and thousands of other relatives, including the ancestors of Vincenzo Arcario (husband of Antonina Cina') and Giuseppe Montalbano (husband of Santa Giuseppa "Susanna" Cina'). If anyone would like to see my tree send me a message on Ancestry and I'll give you access.

Surnames: Cina', Schittone, Trapani, Arcario, Rinoldo, Parisi, Latino, Salerno, Mangiacavallo
You can see all this from my tree, but for those who do not have access, I'll run through the speculation on this thread:

Pietro "Peter" Cina' (that's an accent mark on the final "a"): b. 29 Nov 1855 in Ribera
Margarita/Margherita Schittone: b. 1860 in Ribera (I'll have the exact date next week), d. 8 Mar 1895 in Ribera
Rosalia Trapani: b. 5 Jun 1873 in Cianciana (I'm not sure of my source for this date - probably someone else's tree. I can vouch for the year and place, at least.)

Pietro's parents:
Antonino Cina', b. 6 Sep 1830 in Ribera
Angela/Mariangela Parisi, b. 16 Oct 1833 in Ribera

Rosalia's parents:
Vittorio Trapani, b. 10 Oct 1848 in Cianciana
Angela Latino, b. 1 Aug 1851 in Ribera

Margarita's parents:
Francesco Paolo Schittone, b. Caltabellotta
Santa Salerno, b. Ribera
(I'll have the years of birth for Santa and Francesco Paolo next week after I view their marriage record. They were probably both born before 1822 and thus the LDS church won't have their birth records on microfilm.)

Children of Pietro & Rosalia:
Antonina "Antoinette" Cina', b. 22 Aug 1897 in Ribera
Giuseppa Concetta "Josephine" Cina', b. 16 Feb 1901 in Ribera
Antonino Cina', b. 1903 (supposedly in Malta - I can't confirm this place of birth)
Elena Cina, b. 1906, d. 1908 in Malta (this daughter's existence I can't confirm)
Vittorio Angelo Giuseppe "Victor" Cina', b. 28 Oct 1909 in Ribera
Jean Cina, b. 1919 in Brooklyn (from someone else's tree)

Children of Pietro & Margarita:
Antonino Cina', b. 22 Jan 1882 in Ribera, d. 8 Oct 1887 in Ribera
Mariangela Cina', b. 22 Jan 1882 in Ribera (twins)
Santa Adelaide Eugenia Cina', b. 3 Feb 1884 in Ribera
Santa Giuseppa "Susanna" Cina', b. 26 May 1885 in Ribera
Francesca Cina', b. 6 Jan 1892 in Ribera
Giuseppe Antonino Cina', b. 6 Jan 1892 in Ribera (twins)

Rosalia had a child, Pietro Mangiacavallo, from a previous marriage but the boy died in infancy.

Vincenzo Arcario was b. 22 Jan 1891 in Ribera to unmarried parents Giuseppe Arcario (b. 7 Jul 1862 in Caltabellotta) and Teresa Rinoldo (b. 17 Oct 1865 in Ribera). He had 1 older and 1 younger sibling also born in Ribera and out-of-wedlock, as well as at least 3 younger siblings elsewhere in Italy (Menfi?) or in New York. It is unclear if his parents ever legally married.
