I'm a Cilla, but it's possible to have variations on the name. Our family came from Bari though.

Mark John Cila' (born in 1961) died in 2001 one year after his father, my uncle. He was distraught/devastated, our fathers had no real idea of how they came to be in this country, so we had only fragments of stories (many removed from reality, the work of amateur genealogists).

Mark John had two sisters (Melissa Ziemer and Mindy Finch), and left behind a wife (Laura J) and two children (James and William).

My father (Sebastian Cila) was born 25 Feb 1935, he did remarkably well for a man that never got past the eighth grade (got a GED in 1954 while in the Air Force) a hunter, logger, paper mill supervisor, land developer, recluse) he was 78 years old... his only/younger brother (Anthony Cila) was Mark John's father.

...Sebastian and Anthony's mother (Josephine Sattler/Fleischhacker) was born 13 Dec 1912, in the Dakota's... residents of Indiana.

...Sebastian and Anthony were only four and two years old when their mother passed away Mar 1939, she was 26 years old... it was a terrible fire, she was a strong Hungarian woman who clung to life for four agonizing days in hospital before she passed.

...their father (Antonio Cila) was born 4 Nov 1904... who supposedly came to this country in 1910-27 depending on which family lore one was told

...Antonio was 56 year old when he passed away Mar 1960.

...Antonio was only five years old when his father passed away Dec 1909.

...Antonio’s father (Sebastiano Vincenzo Cila') born Sep 1877, was 32 years old when he passed away (killed on Christmas somewhere in the Bronx).

...Sebastiano Vincenzo Cila’s father, Antonino Cila died in 1888, SVC was just 11 years old.

...Antonio’s mother (Rosa Mezzio/Grazzia/Cela/Vinci, depending on which documents you try to make fit because the dates don't match nor spellings) was born Sep 1884-89.

(depending on which document you believe or which Rosa/Rose was the real one, as likely more than one).

...Rose passed away in Mar 1965, she was between 75-80 years old (depending on which document you are using... for someone supposedly born in Sicily, there is no naturalization documentation for her... as if she was American all along).

(she took her actual age to the grave, and other secrets as well).

...sadly, I (Anthony G. Cila') am now the oldest living Cila at 55

(I don’t foresee holding that title as long as previously held),

(1909-1960... approx 51 yrs, Antonio... remains the undisputed champ)

... again, Antonio arrived in America in either 1910 or late 1920’s depending on which version of family lore you believe)

(1981-2013... approx 32 yrs, Sebastian, my father and Mark John's uncle)

(1960-1981... approx 21 yrs, Matha, Antonio’s third wife, Josephine’s older sister)

...60-65 (?) but Rose married Vinci in 1910, but there is no proof Rose had ever married Sebastiano Vincenzo Cila'... here for honorable mention only, out of respect)

...by virtue of Sebastiano Vincenzo Cila’s passport (having been handed down) Maria Vincenza Cila' (a widow) later remarried Vincenzo Italia... his mother is known to us through a latter day saints database to have lived until 1939 in Sicily (never knowing the extent of her bloodline in America).

...Maria Vincenza Cila' married Vincenzo Italia and had a son 1980 (Guiseppe Italia)

...Sebastiano Vincenzo Cila’s Mother, never came to America, died in Melilli,Sicily

...Sebastiano Vincenzo Cila’s Father, Antonino Cila' died in 1888, when Sebastiano Vincenzo Cila' was 11 years old.

This is most of what I know and have a paper trail for.

Regrettably, I made some type-o's in my last post:

-my father did graduate the eighth grade (did get past it, did get through it but not the first year of high school) his AF214 shows him as "High School-1" with a GED from the Air Force (1954-57).

-Antonio's mother is supposed Rose/Rosa (vinci, amenda, mento, amento, mezzio, mezio, cela, cila) with dates of birth from 1884-1887 depending on which documents are being used to make a connection (personally, too many Roses are involved in the story to have all been the same Rose.

-(1904-1960... approx 54 yrs, Antonio... remains the undisputed champ)

-(1960-2013... approx 53 yrs, Sebastian, my father and Mark Johns uncle), upon reflection, though Martha, Antonio's third wife, was older and kept his name until she left us in 1981)

I am still looking for documents actually connecting my grandfather to Sebastiano Vincenzo Cila' (SVC)... other than a death certificate, as it also lists his mother as UNKNOWN... nothing to date substantiating any of the Rose's mentioned earlier were ever married to SVC.
