Chances are that indeed there is only one tree left originating from Curacao and that your dad is part of it. My father's name is Jose Maria Cijntje, they might know eachother. He did mention family abroad in Sto Domingo, Miami and somewhere else in the states once. The dutch ancestry seems to have died out somewhere in the 1800's. A cousin of mine did find a record in 16-something in a town called Beertha in the north of Holland. We haven't been able to figure out if he's family yet.

Thnx for the info on my last name. Well my mom is dominican and my father is a Cijntje from curacao. But I was born and raised in the United States.But i still dont understand, are all the Cijntje's part of one family?

Cijntje is a very common name on Curacao. The name was brought over to the island by two brothers from The Netherlands. I myself am living in Holland at the moment so it's kind of back to partial roots. Other roots of mine are negro and south american indian.
What's your history?

hey, i have never been to curacao, an i just wanted to know if Cijntje is a common last name over there or are the Cijntje's just a big family. I would like to hear from my family members, i always thought there werent many Cijntje's.
