Hi You are on the meaning and the pronouncing of Cihlar as we have always know is "C-lar" there are some that even changed to spelling to this. It sure baffles people if they see the spelling before they have heard the prounciation. We are still looking for all info we can find for the related Cihlars. It looks like your ancestores are from the same area as ours. - Where abouts are you now?? Gail in nice and warm Nevada

Hi Gail - Most of my Cihlars (pronounced Sigh-lar) are still in the Chicago area. Some migrated to Florida.

Put my grandfathers name in the search box just to do it--his name was Weslynn B. Cihlar--brother Bertram Cihlar--Wes was a dentist Dr. Cihlar-lived in and had a practice in Naperville married Mercedes Harms--or Harminski originally-daughter of Martha. Wes's father lived in Tomahawk Wisconsin--I was raised in Rhinelander with Wes and Mercedes when he retired the first time. Anyway--if anyone's interested I could look in some stuff and see what I have.

Hi, our family were previous patients of Dr. Cihlar in Woodridge. We had visited Wes in Rhinelander after he had retired full time. Paul H

Hello, just ran across this post. Is your family from Wi? I had a uncle Frank Cihlar..believe he lived in Manitowoc, his parents and some siblings lived in Oshkosh. They were originally from Klatovy, then Prague I believe. I would love to hear more from you.
