Hi Relatives?
Am looking for my ggrandfather's ancestors and sibs? He was Johannes Cihak, b @ 1851 in Bohemia, settled in MN and married a Rose Tupa @ 1881. Their first born was in 1882 so he immigrated before then. Quite a few Czechs came up the Mississippi from Chgo or Iowa; don't know if he just continued north, and perhaps some family might have stayed in IL or IA??? Would love to hear from anyone who might connect, or be able to help. Thanks

Hi Joy,

Thanks so much for your response. I haven't done any research in Czeckoslovakia yet, but that's also my next move. Perhaps there is a connection.
Hope so and we can share info.

Do you know John Alois Cihak's parents names?

Thanks,
Barbara Leibold

Right now I do not know what John Alois
parents names were but I will e-mail my dad
and ask him to find out for me. He should
know. I hope that there is a connection.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Cousin Joy!!

You and I are indeed related. Your grandfather Joseph Cihak was Rosalie's brother, my grandmother who married Joseph Kodadek.

Do you have info on the Cihaks in Czechoslovakia, or any info on their arrival in America?

We live in Florida, far removed from much local MN data.

Keep in touch and happy holidays!

I do not have any information of the cihaks
in czechloslovakia, but when my aunt and
uncle traveled there, they took a picture of
a head stone with the word" Cihaka" which
means family of cihaks. I do not have any
information on the Cihaks arrival to in
America. I will be finding out that info
soon, because i need to trace my roots to
Czechloslovakia, because I am running for Ms.
Czech Slovak Minnesota this spring and this
is part of the requirements to trace your
roots. I am so happy that I found family.
I would like your address, that way the rest
of my family could keep in touch with you
also. I will indeed keep in touch with you,
Happy Holidays

Hi Barbara,

Joseph Cihak is actually my great grandfather
So your grandmother, Rosalie, and Joseph were
brother and sister? Do you know who there
parents were, or where they grew up? All I know is that Joseph started his family in a
rural town called Webster, Mn. That is where my grandfather, John grew up at least.
Thank you for all your help.

Hi Cousin,
Great hearing from you and Good Luck in your Czech contest; I'm rooting for you. Anything I can do to help fill in ancestry or whatever, let me know.
Who were your aunt uncle who went to Czech?
I sent a copy of the Kodadek book with Tupa lineage etc to Verna Cihak Blesener, but I have additional info since then (about a year ago).
My email: bkl@prodigy.net
Please keep in touch; so glad to have another "Researcher" in the family.
Look forward to sharing info.
Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Hi Joy,
I just realized you sent another message; sorry I missed it.
Rose and Joseph had had three other sibs, and their parents were Rosalie Tupa and Johannes Cihak.
I'll be happy to send my ancestry chart if you would send me your address. Any data you have re: family details would be great too. I did not realize Joseph settled in Webster, MN. Details about individual families I think are very interesting, but these I have very few of.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
