My ancestors came from Bohemia as Frank Cihak.Our last name might have been spelt Cijak.If you have any info on this last name,please let me know.Well my grandfather was George Cihak and his brother was Lester Cihak.Lester lives up north,I believe,in East Jackson.George died and lived in Grand Rapids.He married a Helen Brattinga.But let me know if you have any information on these people!!!!Thanks!=)

The name Frank Cihak souds familiar. My family is from Muskegon, Michigan. Maybe we are related!

I cannot tell you anything about de cihak family', but I am almost certain that Helen Brattinga must be in my pedigree. Brattinga is a Frisian (Dutch) family-name and Helen very often occurs. If you send me some further information (year of marriage etc) I will try to help you.

Hello Morgan,
I was recently in Czech Republic in Prague and our name is in fact original.
I looked it up in the phonebook there found almost a half page of our classic name.The other name type is Cihakova . In the Czech Rep. our name is pronounced "Cheh'hok" That's what the locals say.If you ever get a chance to go
to Prague,cz. GO!
