Hello

Both of my grandparents came from Sant Andrea d' Conza. My grandfather was Giuseppe Nicola Mastrodomenico, and grandmother was Antonia Maria Cignarella.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Have we corresponded before? My grandmother was Maria Mastrodominico and married Angelo Cignarella. He came to NY from San Andrea d'conza in the 1900's and she followed with three boys in 1913. He was a stone mason. The cignarella family had a huge farm in San Andrea, rode horses, had servants etc. so my father told us.

I now live on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington. Did live in Colorado before this. Have we spoken?

Vincent... I am justed thrilled you have written. I actually have been trying to find you over the past two years. Your children, Sarah and John, are similar ages to my children, Sarah, Rebecca and Veronica. Sarah-25 has been dating a gentleman from the UK for the past 3 1/2 years now. Currently they are both in Taiwan teaching English to young children. I have often thought how nice it would be for all of you, and maybe us, to get together in England some day.

Anyway, now that I have a contact with you let's keep it up and speak frequently.

When are you going to Italy? Our families, Cignarella (i) and Alvino (your grandmother's family on your father's side) came from San Andreas D'Conza, a small mountain village outside of Naples. If you try to go there, make certain you ask specially for San Andreas D'Conza. I made the mistake of only using San Andreas an the taxi took us in the opposite direction from D'Conza.

Tell me more about your plans, your life, family, everything and if you want I will do the same. Maureen, your father's wife, is still living. She remarried a fellow named Chuck and she is still a lovely woman. We speak every couple of months. I saw her last May when she attended my daughter Sarah's graduation from college.

My phone number is 360-452-4079 in Washington STate, US. I have a calling card with reasonable rates to phone you also, so if you would like, let me know your number. If you are still in the UK I know we are 8 hours difference in time.

James Blackwell, Sarah's boyfriend, is from Kingswood, Bristol. James thought his brother Ben might know John. Wouldn't that me amazing!

Please respond to my personal email norelli99@hotmail.com and use Cignarelli as the subject so I know not to delete.

Thanks for writing... I am so pleased.

Fondly, Angie and family

Vinnie, I hope I didn't frighten you off with my excitement of hearing from you. I will send you all the family information I have.

Louis George Cignarella (i) changed to i at Ellis Island
Parents: Angelo Cignarella
Maria Mastrodominico
Louis had brothers: Victor, Anthony, Joseph, Sister Grace (who is still living at an assisted living place in Palm Springs, California at 92) My brother Richard and I look over her. She is not lucid with family information unfortunately.
The brother all had children who are presently living in New Jersey and Virginia.

Great Grandparents: Francesca Mastrodomininco
Maria was raised by aunts in San Andreas Di Conza.

Louis wife: your grandmother: Carmella Millie Alvino daughter of Charles Alvino and Francis

Grandma like to go by 'millie'. Sisters: Jeanne, Sue, Lena, brother, Frank. Lots of living sons and daughters here in the US.

Angelo Cignarella was a mason and started to come to NY to work in the early 1890's leaving Maria and children in Italy until 1913. Mother and 3 boys traveled in the hull of a ship for 30 to arrive at Ellis Island. Louis was the oldest and I have many stories to relate from him about those early days growing up in Italy and New York.

Grandfather Charlie was a barber and did well in NY.

We have Cignarelli (a) relatives in Australia as well. A town in the mountains just south of Sydney. I have been told by one relative there it is a village of Italians who migrated to Aust. when some were migrating to the US. Very family oriented group. I hope to get there some day. I have emails when you are ready.

We also have Mastrodominico relatives in several parts of the US, northeast as well as Oregon. The Mastrodominico's also came from San Andrea Di Conza.

In Italy apparently the Cignarelli family were well off with a farm, workers, horses. They hunted, feasted and lived well according to my father.

I have some names going further back. My husband has been researching his family and mine for several years now.

Currently, Grace 92, Richard 66 in South Carolina, Myself 58,
As you are aware Robert and my sister Barbara are deceased. I spend much time with Barbara's children, Scott 35, wife Casey and two children Jake and Payton in Denver, as well as Kathryn Whitney 34 in Los Angeles.

Richard has two boys, Craig and Todd, both in California.

If you want to know illness history let me know.

If you send me your address I'll send you all the information my husband has researched.

Please tell me about yourself and your family.

Again, I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely, Angela White

Angela,

If your post is in regards to the same Alvino and Cignarella families that I know I don't know where to start.

My mother was Patricia Green. Daughter of Jean (Guiseppina) Alvino and Arthur Green. Louis Cignarella (Uncle Louie) would give me a hair cut when we went to the Bronx to visit grandma. He bought the barber shop from my great grandfather.

I am in search of any family genealogy info.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Chris

Chris, I've often wondered about my cousin Patricia. She was 2 years older than I. You refer to her as 'was'. Is she not still living? If she is, where is she? The Louis Cignarella you received a haircut from in the Bronx was a different person than my father Louis Cignarelli, but certainly could have been related. I take it he bought the barber shop from Charlie Alvino (Jean and my mother Millie's Father).

PLEASE, write to me at norelli99@hotmail.com and I'll give you other contact info. Would LOVE to connect. Thanks for writing Chris.
