My mother's maiden name was Emilia Blaho and she migrated from europe when she was eight. She is soon to turn 76. My father, Andrew Cigan, was also from europe. His parents were Theresa and Louis Cigan. My father had a brother Steve but his whereabouts are unknown to me. My dad, Andrew, died in 1984, he was 60 years old. I have a sister, Andrea Lynn Cigan Griffery who lives in kenosha, WI along with my mother, Emilia Cigan and my brother Andrew Mark Cigan lives in Iowa.

Hope this helps you....not even sure if we are related. Home phone 972-781-1919, cell 214-707-8932, e-mail samandanna@hotmail.com.

Hi Emilia,

Thanks very much for your reply and the information. Yes its true there are a lot of Cigans around the World. At some point there had to be connection somewhere way back. As you know the name Cigan means Gypsy so that is why it is hard for me to pinpoint my fathers ancestors.

I appreciate all the information that u have shared with me.

Sincerely

Lily Cigan

Thank you very much for your reply,

Could be one of my relations, according to the information you gave me it does not list any birth date or where this individual was born. Would it be possible to obtain this information?

Please respond.

Thanks

You will have to obtain death certificate to be certain, but here are some other suggestions.

You might want to contact Pikes Peak Genealogical Society (PPGS), they have a book on Ramah Cemetery and it might have more info on your Stephen Cigan.

Here is their website:

I did find a Stephen Cigan in the 1900 US Federal Ceneus living in Leadville, Lake, Colorado who was also born Jan 1862 in Austria.

Helen Cigan came to the US about 1887. Her father was Samuel and she married John Dunda, my husbands great great grandfather. Her records say she was born in Austria, but Hungary and Chekoslovakia are also mentioned. Any connection?
