My great grandmother Ellen or Allen Cibulsky married Jacob Blumberg in Lomza Russ-Poland. I would imagine there were many ways to spell this name here in the U.S. since it had to be translated from either Russian or Polish depending on when the record was created. I have also seen the name spelled Zibulsky or Zibulski in this country.

My grandfather David Blumberg was born in Aug 1897 when Lomza still belonged to the Russian Empire. I found the records of his village Pionsnica, which is located just outside of Lomza, on Microfilm but was unable to read them because they were in Russian. Grandfather always identified his place of birth as Lomza but ships arrival records expanded this to indicate the name of the village as well.

I wonder if there is any connection between your GM and my great grandmother. I don't know a whole lot about her other than that her father's name was Zalman, according to what my mother said.

I know also she had brothers Abraham and Jack who both
immigrated to the U.S. Abraham married Fannie Rosenthal and lived on the lower east side of Manhattan until the 1920's when both died as a result of an accident. They had two chilren Harry and Benjamin who went by the surname Rosenthal. Uncle Bennie was a Furrier in Manhattan and Uncle Harry owned a photofinishing business there.
Gr grandmother's other brother Jack or John owned a farm
in Chestnut Hills, Connecticut. He also married and had children but I don't have any of their names.

If you think there might be a connection between our two families please contact me. Thanks

I saw that you were from IL and the Cibulka family for which I search is from there. I am looking for information on John Cibulka b abt 1877 in Czech. (Austria-Bohemia), he immigrated to USA about 1890-1893. He married Marie Suchomel in USA. She was born in Poland. Lillian, Joseph, and Jerry were their children.

They settled in Cook County, IL in the Chicago area. Does this sound familiar? Information from anyone is welcome.

Hello,
My name is Michelle. My maiden name was Zibulsky. What interested me about your entry is that my father was born and mainly raised in Brooklyn except for a period of time when he lived on a family farm in Connecticut.

Unfortunately, I have very little information other then that.

Perhaps we are related and can combine information...
