i've been skimming some of the Ciampa posts and have noticed many Ciampa's have come from the same area in Naples and also migrated to MA. Does anyone know of any Ciampa's who migrated to the NY area? Im am trying to research Antonio Champa (im guessing he changed his name from Ciampa due to pronunciation). He was born in 1831 and came to either NY or MA in 1855 and moved to SC in 1868. Can anyone help me?....Also, can anyone tell me about the "Church of the Ciampa's" in naples?

Surnames: Ciampa
Many Ciampas also moved to Bedford in England just after WWII. Bedford has a population of Just over 100,000. 10,000 at least are Italian.

Mike,

Hello...I just happened to catch this web site and put in
the Ciampa name which is my maiden name. My grandfather was
Samuel Guiseppe Ciampa. I never knew him...he died before
I was born, but I do know that he came here from Northern
Italy and spoke very little English. I was born in Brockton, MA. Most of my Ciampa/Champa relatives are in the
Quincy, Randolph areas. My father did tell me that the Ciampa name was Americanized to Champa sometime in the 1930's.
I do not know if I have any relatives in New York though. If
so, I do not know who they are. I wish I could be more help
to you as who knows...we could be related somehow. Happy Hunting.
