Re: Ciampa - Naples, Italy
Is it possible that your ancestors come from the Avellino region of Italy? More specifically, the Ciampa was prevalent in the town of Montefalcione. There are many descendents of people from this town in the Boston area. I am one. My mother's line is Martignetti. I had a great great grandmother named Maria Palma Ciampa.
I hope this helps a little.

Re: Ciampa - Naples, Italy
I just happened to type my name in google search and it had this site as a link. Anyways, I am Joseph F. Ciampa Jr. son of Joseph F. Ciampa whos is son to Angelo Ciampa. Angelo died in 1993 in Fallbrook CA. I dont really know alot about my name, however my father has aunts and uncles in the Boston area. He refers to it as the "Catholic" side of town. Now that I've found this site I will be investigating my name further.

Re: Ciampa - Naples, Italy
I know from my Great Grandfathers naturalization papers that he was born in Naples. The family always said that he changed his last name to Chambers when he arrived in this country. No one knows why. I do know that Joseph had a brother named Dominic who lived in the Charleston, Ma. area. I believe this Dominic had children. Joseph married Jennie Milliken of Reading, Ma. in Boston on May 24, 1900. I wonder if I could write to the City Registrar of Boston for some kind of marriage application that would have info. on it?

Re: Ciampa - Naples, Italy
I have found some more info, however it doesn't link anyone to Naples...yet. Angelo's(my grandfather)wife was Filippa T. Calia(maiden) and Angelo's Father was Joseph Francis Ciampa. Angelo's mother's maiden name was Depasquale and Filippa's mother's maiden name was Amata. This seems to be as far back as i can go, at least on the internet, so I'm goin to the library today.

Re: Ciampa - Naples, Italy
Hi- Joe. I bounced your dad on my knee and took care of him growing up. Your dad is my first cousing. I am the son of your grandfather's older brother John. I was attached to your grand dad, and have fond memories of his heroism as a marine in ww2. I know a lot about the ciampas- Your great grandfather was Giuseppe and he came from Montefalcione Italy. He came to do plaster sculpturing on fancy buildings in Boston- such as Harvard- which was being expanded. He died mysteriously leaving nine- one in the womb. Those nine included your grandfather Angelo- a very special guy who taught me lots of things. All are dead except two aunts from that generation- who never married. Evelyn and Josephine. They and my sister still live in the house where your grandfather and all of us were born. Next door to where the Calia's live and thats how your grand parents got together. I live in Florida. Regards to your dad- he may still remember me

Re: Ciampa - Naples, Italy
I too have Ciampa ancestors from Montefalcione!! My great great grandmother was Maria Palma Ciampa from Montefalcione. She married Carmine Festa who died when their children were young. I believe Maria had 2 sisters. My homepage is at: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/m/a/l/Michael-T-M...I hope the link works. The page is huge. Let me know if we're related. Did you ever meet Louis Martignetti? He was my grandfather.
