Jennifer , In sicily there is a town about 30 miles from Palermo called Contessa Entellina. The Ciaccio families lived there from about the 1700's. There is even a street named " Ciaccio" there. Many came to the US during the 1800's and early 1900's. You can find the Ciaccio birth and marriage records at ftp://members.aol.com/itaalb4/archives/contessa/cebircd.txt You can also contact the Contessa Entellina historian at Bret.Clesi@ey.com

Just discovered this site on the web. I live in Texas. My family came from N.Y. My dad was Anthony Ciaccio and His father was George.
Wondering where you are from? The only thing I ever heard the name Ciaccio meant was Pig Hearder, don't know if it is true.
Would like to hear from you.
Diane

Jennifer, just to let you know that there were a lot of Ciaccio's in Caccamo, a towm in Sicily, providence of Palermo. My mother in law was a Ciaccio (josephine) her fathers name was Pietro Ciaccio and he was born in Caccamo. You will also find Ciaccio's from Ustica, a very small island of the coast of Sicily, very close to Caccamo, aparently lots of residents from Caccamo went to Ustica in the 1800's and some were Ciaccio's I was told when I visited about 8 years ago. Hi Raymond,
I saw your posting on FamilyHistory.com which included a link (see below) to a site with Ciaccio marriage and birth records however the links does not work.

Can you repost or direct me to any sites with Ciaccio information. My mother's surname is Ciaccio and I would like to trace my family tree.

Thank you in advance,
Lisa

Hi Lisa, I am sorry that those links do not work anymore. If you send me your E-mail address I will send you the list I have for Ciaccios born in Contessa Entellina between 1831 and 1863. I think that that town was the origin of the Ciaccio family.
