Was your grandfather's name Salvatore Ciaccio by any chance? Did your family move to Texas?

Hi Richard,
I have recently completed our grandfather's side of the family tree and am now working on getting information for my grandmother's side of the family.
My great grandmother, Josephine (Jacqueline) C. Ciaccio b. 1879 in Albania? d. 1970 in New Orleans, LA married Salvador Anthony Vaccaro b. 1869 in Naples, Italy d. 1935 in NOLA. They had five children Anthony Joseph, Josephine Lydia, Jacob John, Frances, and Vincent J. Vaccaro.
Josephine Lydia Vaccaro is my grandmother b. 1897 in NOLA and d. 1987 in NOLA, married Joseph Arthur Schmalz and had one son, Joseph Vincent Schmalz, my dad.
NOLA birth records for the children indicate my great grandmother's name spelled Ciccia.
Any information on the name spelling or where I can obtain more information would be appreciated.

Re: ciaccio's from caccamo
Hi, I just found this site, and I read your message. I'm living in Minnesota. Before this I didn't even know there were any other Ciaccio's around. I've been told that my family was from Calabria or something. My great-greadfather, Michael Ciaccio, came to america around 1909. Well anyways, I'll be 20 years old in March, and I'm attending school at lsc for what, I do not know. Just hoping to get a bachlors degree. Maybe become certified in Massage thearpy. I've always wanted to move out to Italy, but I've never been there before or even have an idea of what it is like out there. Hopefully I'll be able to see it before I pass, It not like I'm in a hurry.

Re: ciaccio's from caccamo
My mother's name is Concetta Ciaccio, from Caccamo. Her father's name was Pietro Ciaccio, as well as her grandfather. She also had a aunt named Josephine. Perhaps ther is some kind of relation . Any information is welcomed.

Hi Giovanna, I just got your email, my mother in laws name was Josephine, she was born in Philadelphia, but her parents were both from Caccamo, it is also my home town. Are you also from Caccamo and where do you live now. Maybe we can find our family connection. My mother in laws father Pietro had a sister named Josephine also. Let me know where you are from. I will wait for your reply.

Hi Adriana. I was born in Morristown, NJ and now live in Sussex. But, both of my parents and sisters were born in Caccamo. Perhaps there might be a connection between your mother in laws family and my mother. Your mother in laws parents might be my mothers aunt and uncle. I will wait for a reply. Any information is welcomed.

Hi Giovanna, this is interesting, how can we figure this out. Does your mother know any information about her family, so that we can make a connection? Pietro Ciaccio married Josephine (Rina) (also from Caccamo) these are my mother in laws parents, he also had a sister named Josephine Ciaccio who lived in Philadelphia, I remember her saying she also had an uncle who lived in New York, I'm not sure about his name. My mother in law had 3 brothers, Joseph, Salvatore, Giacamo and a sis.ter Caterina. Her father Pietro came to American without his parents he was a stone mason, His mother died in Caccamo and his father remarried in Caccamo to a younger woman and had a few more children. If any of this sounds familiar to you or your mother, then there is a connection, give me some of your info, that you may know about the Ciacio family. I wish she were still alive, she was a wonderful person and we miss her dearly. Hope to hear from you soon. Where in Sussex do you live. How far from Morristown? I'm close to Morristwn, about 10 min. away.
