Trying to research my husbands family. His great grandmother was Concetta Ciaccio b 12-8-1878 Caccamo Sicily, d 2-22-1943 Houston, TX. Married Nicholas Cecala or Caecula later changed to Checkle. This is a mystery. Came to US through New Orleans around 1908. Any leads or helps would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless!

My grandfather's name was Joe Checkle. He was married to Josephine Anneli and they had eight children. Mary, Joseph, Sadie, Anna Lena, Frances, Virginia, Charles, and Bobbie. They lived in Houston. The only survivors are my aunt Jennie and Annie. The original name was Cecala. I, too would like to know more. Please let me know any info you know.

Jo Lynn -- Not sure about this. Last name is apparently the same. Some family members say original spelling was Caecula and others Cecala. Please contact me directly at

Hi, I’m distantly related to Michael and Vincent Ciaccio, born in Galveston in the late 1800s. Their father was Salvadore Ciaccio, from Sicily and probably came through New Orleans in the 1870s. He was a stepfather to my greatgrandfather Nicholas Rezza/Retza. Is there a connection.

I saw this old message so I am not sure if you are still out there. My great grandmother was named Concetta Concialdi Ciaccio. B- abt. 1877. Same person? ... Pete.
