Problems with this assumption.

John baptized 26 Jan 1746 is most likely the same John in the burial record of 30 Jul 1747
Burial for John CHENOWITH Notes state son of John. See the following baptism/burials

First, the name Jennifer versus Jane. There is a marriage in 1738 of John Chenoweth to Jennifer Daniel. The marriage entry indicates John was of St. Clement parish and Jennifer of St. Mary.

The names Jennifer and Jane have been historically interechanged when referring to the same person, this is evidenced in English historical records and American records as well. So with that said lets look at the evidence.

All the following of St. Mary's Truro
27-Sep 1739
Baptism of John and Catherine Chynoweth
Father John
Mother Jennifer

17-Nov 1739
Burial for John CHYNOWETH Notes son to John(most likely the son John above)

19-Feb 1745
Burial for Catherine Chynoweth(most likely the daughter Catherine above)

23-Jun 1745
Baptism Thomas CHYNOWETH
Father John
Mother Jane
Notes 7 yrs (so born circa 1738)

18-Sep 1745
Nathaniel CHYNOWETH Note of St Clements (could this be a brother or even father to John who married Jennifer? Upon further research this is most likely Nathaniel who married Katherine Williams 06 Jun 1703 and has several children baptized in St. Mary including a John baptized 31 July 1710.)

25-Jan 1746
Baptism for John CHENOWETH
Father John
Mother Jane

30-Jul 1747
Burial for John CHENOWITH Notes son of John (is this indicating that the John baptised in 1746 above dies or his father? This is an important question as it would negate that this John married and therefore could not be James' father) Since there are no notes written in the record it's is hard to distinguish which John they are referring too but it does list son of John, not son of Nathaniel.

30-Aug 1748
Baptism for Nathanael CHENOWETH
Father John
Mother Jenifer

11-Sep 1748
Burial for Jenifer CHENOWETH no other information given but since there are no other indications of a Jane or Jennifer in this same time frame and since this death would have occured very close to the birth or baptism of her son Nataniel it is a safe assumption this is indeed the mother of the above Children.

16-Jan 1749
Burial for Nathanael CHENOWETH although no age is given or any information as to who this may be it's seems a reasonable assumption that this is the Nataniel baptized above 4 months earlier.

With all the above tied together it seems unlikely that the James Chenoweth (b.c. 1775) who married Mary Roberts is the son of John recorded in these St. Mary records. So perhaps the John and Elizabeth recorded in James' baptism were of St. Agnes or another parish. I searched several so far but still several to go.
