I think you're right, Julia. :)

I've picked on Mary's story for a Cornish Language project I'm just starting. I want to tie the story of my family to the movement of the miners away from the Redruth area. It's an interesting part of Cornwall's social history and a significant part of my family history. I've gone beyond wanting to collect names and dates, I want to understand what life was like for them.

Thank you for your help. I'll have a look at Sampson and his family as well, thanks for mentioning them.
Oll an gwella,
Ruth

Ruth, I to am interested in the social and economic issues of the time, just not the names and dates. What was the reasons to leave and begin a new life across the ocean? Please share your findings with the board as you continue. Thank you in advance for your efforts.

Kim

I don’t know anything about Sampson, going to Canada or who he married, but I do have him having a brother William b Dec 1829 and sister Mary b abt 1828, Sampson b. abt 1818, Their parents are Sampson and Elizabeth Nichols b. abt 1774. William is my G.Grandfather, who seems to have had 2 wives both sisters 1st Elizabeth Grose one child Mary Ann, 2nd Harriet Ann Grose, who may have been married twice herself to a Thomas Hore/Honey still cannot confirm anything about Harriet.
