Dear Sebastian,
I am not sure if we are of any relation, but I can give you the brief history of my ancestors...
Wenzel and Maria Chwala were married in 1844 in St. Thomas Catholic Church, Village of Cizkaw, District of Pilgrim, County of Labor, Bohemia. In 1861, they sailed out of Bremen, Germany to the U.S. They initially settled in Cooperstown, Wisconsin and became farmers. They had four sons that travelled with them, Wenzel, Frank, John (who later changed his last name to Qualler - there are some living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin today) and Joseph. Beyond that, I know Joseph's nine children's names and how they relate to me.
About five years ago I was contacted by Andreas Chwala who grew up in Germany but his father was born in Poland. He was searching for ancestors and may be related to your family. I am not sure if this email address still works:
andreas@ipht-jena.de but it may be worth a try.
I hope this has been of some use - good luck searching.
Katrina Grant (nee Chwala)
