Re: Granville CHUBB son of Alfred - St. George
Can you give me years of birth on these men? I am also looking for a family of Chubbs in South Carolina and found a family on the 1850 census in Charleston County St. Johns Collection. They had on that census, two boys. Phillip age 4, Wesley age 2 and a daughter Josephine age 5 parents were Joseph and ? Mary Chubb. Joseph was 28 and Mary was 32. He was a farmer. It also showed that the children were all born in St.Johns Berkley, while he and his wife were born in St. Stephens. I don't know whether these are townships or what in Charleston County. I believe the Josephine Chubb age 5 is the Josephine that married James David Geiger and is in the Huxford book "Pioneers of Wiregrass" but am not positive and must do more searching. I also found a Jacob Chubb 1850 in Charleston County with wife Dorcas. Don't know if these two families were related.

Re: Granville CHUBB son of Alfred - St. George
Just in the past few days I've been researching info family on my father's side. I got as far as my great grandfather, Alfred Chubb, and have not been able to find any info about him. My family is from Dorchester/Berkeley/Orangeburg Counties. My Grandmother was Carrie Chubb Singletary (b:1886, d: 1961), buried at Springhill Methodist Church Cemetery in Berkeley County. Her father was Afred Chubb, perhaps a different one than you are searching for. I'm also looking for any info on Alfred's wife. I have no name or anything on her. Like I said, I've found no further info on him and the dates do not seem to add up, so this may not be of any help to you. If you find that there is a connection, I'd really appreciate it if you would let me know as I've reached a brick wall. Thanks, Eva

Re: Granville CHUBB son of Alfred - St. George
I have Stephen Granville Chubb (4 Sep 1925 - 11 Dec 1960 Berkeley County, SC) buried Springhill UMC Cemetery, Berkeley County.
He was a son of Alfred George Washington Chubb (30 Jan 1892 - 10 May 1929 Holly Hill, Orangeburg, SC) and Dora Winningham Chubb Rudd (11 Sep 1905 - 18 Nov 1969 Holly Hill, Orangeburg, SC). Both are buried Springhill UMC Cemetery, Berkeley County.
I believe Carrie Chubb Singletary is Alfred G.W. Chubb’s sister.
Alfred G.W. Chubb’s Death Certificate says his parents were Alfred Chubb and Margaret Infinger Chubb.
Happy to share further info if this seems to be the correct family.

Re: Granville CHUBB son of Alfred - St. George
You are correct. Alfred G. W. Chubb was my grandmother Carrie’s brother. I’ve found so many Alfred Chubbs, it is difficult to tell if they are a different lineage or related. On findagrave.com, there are 7 Chubbs buried in SPMC cemetery. I’ve been there many times over my lifetime and it seems like I remember more Chubbs than that in the cemetery. I was planning to go today but something came up and I couldn’t make it, but will do so soon…..before it gets too warm and humid. I plan to take pics of all the headstones there and maybe that will lead to more relatives. I’ve just begun researching a couple of weeks ago and the only research sites I’ve used is Ancestry.com; findagrave.com, and familysearch.org. I found the death certificate of Afred G. W. Chubb. I also found one for an Alfred Chubb (buried in Bethel Cemetery) whose father was John Piegler Chubb and his mother was Elizabeth Chubb. I vaguely remember something being said about Pieglers in either my grandmother Carrie or my grandfather’s lineage. Other than knowing my grandmother Carrie’s father was Alfred Chubb and her mother, Margaret Infinger, I have nothing further back on her. I’d love to find out who her grandparents was and beyond. Perhaps you’ve found something more in your research that might help. I found Martha Jean Chubb who was Grandma Carrie’s sister. I know her granddaughter, a cousin of mine. Martha died in a house fire. Her death certificate shows her as Martha Jean Droze; father Alfred Chubb, mother with just the initials D. K. What relation is Stephen Granville Chubb to you? Thank you for sharing your info. It is very nice chatting with you and thanks in advance for any info you might have that will help further my research. If I find more, I’ll be happy to share with you. Eva

Re: Granville CHUBB son of Alfred - St. George
HI.We are related through Alfred Chubb. My lineage is as follows: Alfred Chubb from Dorchester/Berkeley City S.C. His son Arthur Chubb who married Louise Droze. Their son Charles Samuel Chubb who married Augustus Sharp is my mothers parents. Carrie Chubb is my Grandfathers aunt. I have been searching for years on info on Alfred Sr. But have come up against a brick wall. There are 3 brothers in 1800s in Berkeley City that I am trying to link to my family. My email is wilsontemusc.edu. Terry Etheridge Wilson
