This may be too late in coming to you but I am doing some reasearch on the chochol family that came to chicago in 1851 on the German ship Catharina out of hamburg. the family consisted of thomas chochol 1828, his wife dorothy b 1819 (who used the name Mayer for some reason) and son John born 1851. Family was listed as being from Volin, Bohemia. Thomas and Mary had more children born in U.S,They had Henry and later Mary (Marie) S. Mayers (don't know why Moms maiden name was used. Mary married James Martin Kralovec of chicago.Dates are a little unsure. Interested in other information about Volin.
