WILLIAM CHOAK,his wife, PATTY HARRY CHOAK, and several of their children left Cornwall, England and settled in Brighton, Wisconsin in 1853. He was my great-great-great-grandfather. His son, CHARLES CHOAK was my great-great-grandfather.EVARED SYLVESTER CHOAK was the son of CHARLES, and my great-grandfather. MY grandmother, VIOLET EMMALINE CHOAK was the daughter of EVARED. Does anyone have any other information about this line of the CHOAK family? I'm curious as to whether there are any other living descendants [especially in the Wisconsin/Illinois area]. Thanks! Barbara

My grandfater and grandmother live near you in plymouth but as i live in nortern england it is hard to contact them to find out more. I hope this information has been helpful. If you happen to come across any more informatin i would be grateful or notification,or if you should need to contact me for any reason email me on tribadic@hotmail.com. Barbara: I have found a Forrest George CHOAK married (1926 in Burlington, Racine, WI) to my relative Mabel Katherine WARNER (b. 1904 Racine Co. Wisc) I believe that Mabel died in 1985 in Chicago. I do not know if they had any children. I do not have any further information on Forrest, but I can provide more info on Mable's family--father Clarence WARNER, mother Ellen DUNN (my ggrandmother's sister). Please let me know if you think this family is related to your CHOAK. Thanks, Kathleen

Hi Barbara,

We have a Church Bible which used to be used in births, marriages, funerals etc in Cornwall.
In the opening pages it lists a number of Marriages, Births and Deaths recorded by the Church, including the following:

Marriages: Philip & Grace Choak, 28 Sept 1870
Births: Grace Choak, 27 Feb 1846; Abbylinda Choak, 12 March 1871; Philip Charles Choak, 16 Sept 1883

Although we do not have sufficient local knowledge to connect these people for you, we feel confident that they are connected to your ancestors in some way.

Interestingly, in the Bible there are some loose press cuttings relating to a visit by an American Evangalist Miss North - as part of a three week stay in Cornwall and the conversion of more than 200 people to Christianity.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like any more information.

Kind regards.
