Chmielek-Polish Immigrant
My maternal grandmother Kate (Katarzyna?) Chmielek emigrated from Poland (Bochnia?) by way of Hamburg, Germany in about 1910. She traveled by ship probably to Canada with one sister, Agatha (out of about 10 siblings total), and ended up in Portland, OR. Her parents' names were Thomas Chmielek and Maria Stroyek. She married Frank Dubinski, another Polish immigrant. Anyone know this family group or come across the Chmielek name?

Re: Chmielek-Polish Immigrant
We are looking into the family history of our GrMother, and GGMother. Our Grandmother was named Anna Klimchack when she married our Grandfather, Frank Santillo of Pgh. Pa. Her mother was Katherine. We thought her last name was also Klimchack, but found out it was Dubinski. She must have remarried. They came to the US around 1915, when Anna was 15. Anna was born in Lublin, Poland per her death certificate. We don't know how Anna came to be in Pittsburgh and her mother lived in Jackson, Michigan on a farm. Katherine's maiden name was Kurik or Curik or a variation. We have found photos from relatives named Maria Kingle and Andrej Dubinski. Spelling is hard to read. Also what looks like Zona and Obriecko. Does this sound like your relative?

Re: Chmielek-Polish Immigrant
Margie, You found my Chmielek message board where I mentioned my Grandmother married a Dubinski, but as of this writing, you missed the Dubinski message board where your relative has posted a query too. Go to Dubinski message board and read "Dubinski, Dubinsky?? by Stacy Huston, posted 10 Jul 2002. you guys are looking for the same people! I think our Dubinski connection is a dead end because mine all went to Washington state or Oregon. Good Luck!
